Our caring community at UCLA

Our home on campus is Hedrick Hall. You will be a part of a dynamic community of students and staff living together in one residence hall. At Jr. Discovery at UCLA everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.

Whether you’re watching a movie or playing games in the lounge, it’s great to live with your new friends. And if you have any questions, your Resident Counselor (RC) lives down the hall and is there for you 24/7.

Here’s our set up:

  • Live in double or triple room with communal bathrooms.
  • Every room includes a bed, study desk, closet, and wifi.
  • Lounges, game rooms, laundry facilities, and the Jr. Discovery office are all in our residence hall.
  • Live a short walk from Rieber dining hall, academic buildings, and the Wooden Sports and Recreation Center. Did we mention that we can see the Sunset Canyon Pool from our windows?

Delicious all-you-can-eat dining

Eat in the modern Rieber dining hall. Enjoy 3 meals every weekday and 2 on weekends, when on campus. Choose from daily options at the salad bar, deli counter, pizza oven, stir fry station, dessert bar, and more. Vegetarian? Food Allergy? Special diets are not a problem.

Your health and safety are our primary concern

Our RCs are committed to the support and supervision of Jr. Discovery students. Daily sign-ins and room checks are used for your safety. We walk you to your workshops and chaperone all-group activities and trips. If you have a question, just ask your RC.

Not feeling well? Jr. Discovery staff make all medical appointments, accompany students to medical facilities, obtain prescription medications, and notify parents after medical visits. Appointments are made with Peak Health Medical Group or the UCLA Medical Center.

Discover everything Los Angeles

UCLA is minutes from the trendy Westwood Village. Movie premiers and celebrity sightings are common in Westwood. Stores like Target, Starbucks, and Urban Outfitters are just a short walk away. With over 50 restaurants and cafés and multiple movie theaters, everything is convenient. Want to explore Westwood? Our staff will take you and your friends several times throughout the summer.

At UCLA, the entertainment capital of the world is at our doorstep. Los Angeles is famous for awesome television and movie studios, theme parks, comedy clubs, theater productions, and museums.
