The Dartmouth Summer Scholars pre-college academic enrichment programs are intensive academies designed by Dartmouth and taught by university faculty and expert instructors. They feature over five hours of class time each day, and some courses culminate in capstone presentations before a panel of selected peers and community members.
Diverse fields of study include entrepreneurship, business, data science, creative writing, psychology, medicine, engineering, design thinking, leadership and more. Highly sought-after courses include "Human Health and Peak Performance,” “Problem Solving in Business,” and “Clean Energy Technologies”.
The Leadership Institute assembles a diverse team of instructors to examine how leadership concepts evolve across different academic disciplines, industries, time periods, and cultures, starting with foundational leadership theories and applying them to real-world situations. Each course offers different learning modalities that balance classroom instruction with dynamic and kinesthetic learning. Depending on the program session, courses may incorporate activities such as a backpacking trip, engaging discussions on politics and society, or learning strategies focused on business and personal development, offering students an opportunity to reflect on their own roles as leaders and community contributors.
In addition to life-changing knowledge, self-confidence and maturity, students receive a Dartmouth-branded Certificate of Completion, as well as a letter of recognition for coursework completed, as tangible evidence of their time and accomplishments at Dartmouth.
