How Do Courses Work? For each campus, you may build your own schedule (1 course in the morning, 1 course in the afternoon) or choose an Academy where the courses are packaged together for you (Academy also includes Inc. Young Entrepreneurs).

Moneyball Academy: Training Camp

Sponsored by the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative (WSABI), Wharton Moneyball Academy: Training Camp is a one-week program broadly introducing students to statistics through a sports lens. This program welcomes talented high school sophomores, juniors and seniors intrigued by statistics. Students applying to this program should have strong math skills and an interest in sports. The summer experience serves as an entrée into the sports statistics world as it is not heavily focused on computing but rather the fundamental principles of sports statistics. Wharton professor Adi Wyner in conjunction with PhD students will teach the program.

Who Should Take This Course? High school students who are interested in analytics, sports, and/or statistics who do not have the foundation of advanced math classes or coding (python/R).
Highlights Morning hands-on work with afternoon guest speakers and lecture. Graphical and numerical summaries of data, basic probability theory, statistical reasoning Introduction to data analysis with computers. Students will Learn the concepts to Be able to analyze sports data. Students will spend the week in class learning the basic concepts of sports statistics and analytics.
Courses & Academies Moneyball Academy: Training Camp is an all-day, intensive one-week summer program. Students will be assigned homework and team projects outside of class hours. Students will receive a certificate of completion from Wharton at the end of the program.
