Evan Skowronski, Ph.D.
Evan Skowronski, Ph.D.

Dr. Skowronski is the Chief Scientific Officer at TMG Biosciences, assisting clients to execute biosurveillance and microbial detection/characterization programs.  He has extensive experience in environmental microbiology (serving on the Editorial Board of Applied Environmental Microbiology), microbial forensics/detection, and assay development from genomics-based target selection to formal validation.

He was the Division Chief of Biosciences at the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center, overseeing a staff of 100 scientists with a $40M budget, and participated in the USDA National Steering Committee for Colony Collapse Disorder, the National Research Council Microbial Forensics Working Group, and the National Interagency Genome Sequence Coordinating Committee.

Earlier positions include Senior Biological Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he served as the Sequencing Manager of the DOE genomics laboratory and later as assay development lead.  He deployed to the National Capitol Region in response to the 2001 Anthrax event, and was co-winner of the R&D100 award for the development of the deployable surveillance laboratory.  He also was a member of the 2003-4 USDA Newcastle Disease Task Force that performed surveillance in support of the eradication effort for CA, NV, and TX.

Dr. Skowronski has a B.S in Chemistry from Duke University (1990) and a Ph.D. in Molecular/Microbiology from Loma Linda University (1995).

Courses & Academies This class is one of our UT Austin courses. Courses are single classes that are taken in the morning or afternoon. Students who take our courses select two courses to take during the session. Students will select a morning and afternoon course. Students will receive a certificate of completion from the University of Texas at Austin.
