Our Amazing High School Summer Program at University of Texas at Austin

Our pre-college program at the University of Texas at Austincombines academics, athletics, and activities to give high school students a taste of college life. Students can choose between full day academic institutes or morning and afternoon enrichment courses in a wide variety of subjects. The best thing about these classes are the amazing professors and the experience they bring to the program!

Fashion Design with Jessica Ciarla

Course description: Gain the basic skills to design and complete a garment from your original sketch. Complete fashion sketches and flats of your designs and construct one of your garments with muslin using draping techniques.

About the Instructor:

Jessica is a fashion designer and consultant with over 14 years of experience in the industry, working in New York City as both a fashion designer and fashion publicist.

In 2009, Jessica launched her collection CIARLA Bride, after receiving her Masters in Fashion Design Advanced at Polimoda International Institute of Design and Marketing in Florence, Italy.

The New York Post voted Ciarla “One of The Best Designers You’ve Never Heard Of.”

Foundations of Psychology with Wendy Domjan

Course description: Learn why relationships work, how your brain influences your experiences, and how you learn. Cover problems in abnormal, bio, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology, and discover what can be treated and how.

About the Instructor:

Wendy has received multiple teaching awards, including the Harry Ransom Teaching Award, Plan II Chad Oliver Teaching Award, and Psychology Department Arnold Buss Teaching Excellence Award.

Her research interests include perception, cognition, psychology of religion, and happiness.

Wendy has served as the Assistant Director for the Plan II Honors program since 2009.

Sports Management with Dr. Matt Bowers

Course description: Why do some teams succeed while others fail? Examine off-field strategies that promote on-field success. Use management strategy and decision-making (game theory & behavioral economics) disciplines. Enhance your critical thinking and knowledge in this hands-on class.

About the Instructor:

Matt graduated with a B.S. and an M.S. in Sport Management from the University of Florida in 2005/2007, where he worked with the Gators football and women's basketball programs

Earned his doctoral degree in Sport Management at the University of Texas at Austin

Recognized as both an undergraduate teacher of the year as well as instructor/teacher of the year
