As part of the University of Miami’s proactive response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to prioritize the health and safety of our community and the broader communities we serve, the Summer Scholars Program and the UM Academies will be offered in a remote format in summer 2020. This decision was made to reduce the potential spread of the coronavirus and guided by the recommendations of leading health officials.

Living together at the University of Miami

While on campus at the University of Miami, you will be a part of a dynamic community of students and staff, living together in one of Miami's residential colleges. 

Whether you’re watching a movie or working on a group project, it’s great to live with your friends. And if you have any questions, your Community Assistant (CA) lives down the hall and is there for you 24/7.


  • Live in double rooms with communal hallway bathrooms.
  • Every air conditioned room includes a bed, study desk, closet, and Wifi.
  • Lounges, free laundry facilities, and the Summer Discovery office are all in our residence hall.
  • We are only a short walk from the dining hall, academic buildings, and the Wellness Center.


Enjoy all-you-can-eat dining at the dining hall for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When on campus, enjoy three meals a day. Vegetarian and gluten free options available. 


Our CAs are committed to the support and supervision of students. Daily sign-ins and room checks are mandated for your safety. You are free to walk around campus in small groups. If you have a question, CAs are on duty to help.

Not feeling well? Our staff assists in making all the medical appointments, accompany students to medical facilities, obtain prescription medications, and keeps parents informed throughout the process. University of Miami Student Health is open from 8:30 - 5:00 during the week.

The University of Miami of features extraordinary athletic and recreational facilities, and you have access to them all. Some of the athletes who have trained at U Miami include Frank Gore, Jimmy Graham, Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, and Vince Wilfork.

  • Do it your way. Organize pick-up games, work out at the Wellness Center, go for a swim, play soccer, or play tennis with a friend.
