Course Description
We will delve into mood, anxiety, psychotic, and personality disorders and learn about different treatment approaches in this introduction to abnormal psychology. Students will debate ethical issues and stigmas related to psychological disorders, discuss the implications of diagnostic labeling, and examine cross-cultural differences in diagnostic practice. Through hands-on activities, students will apply concepts to be able to identify and discuss behavioral disorders and proper forms of treatment for individuals dealing with those disorders. This course offers valuable insights into the world of abnormal psychology, equipping students with knowledge that’s not only fascinating but also crucial for those pursuing careers in psychology. At the end of the course, students will be able to identify and define core terminology and concepts of abnormal psychology, analyze and interpret psychological research, and learn how to provide support and assistance to those in need.
