Why do people act the way they do, and how does society shape our choices, opportunities, and beliefs? Sociology & Everyday Life is your chance to see the world with fresh eyes. In this course, you’ll explore big questions about culture, inequality, power, and identity—while connecting them directly to your everyday experiences, from TikTok trends to school rules to global issues. You’ll learn how to think like a sociologist, analyzing how personal lives and social forces intersect, and discover tools to better understand relationships, communities, and the world you’re stepping into after high school. Instructor Bio
Armani Beck earned her PhD in Sociology from Rutgers University- New Brunswick and is a Society of Fellows postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth College, where she holds a 3-year appointment housed in Dartmouth Sociology with an affiliation in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Armani is interested in the construction and maintenance of privilege and identity in contemporary American society, specifically in relation to race, gender, and sexuality. She is a researcher, educator, and a true believer in combining both for the purposes of creating a better society.
