Build a personalized ACT or SAT study plan in this two-week test-prep course for high school students on the University of Michigan campus.
Course Description
A difficult question and a running clock can demand different kinds of preparation. Work out where your effort will help most, with a plan built around you.
In this course you will prepare for the ACT or SAT through dedicated two-hour sessions with ESM Prep. Before the program, a questionnaire identifies your goals, strengths, and areas needing attention so ESM Prep can create a personalized study plan.
An ESM Prep mentor is present at every session for one-on-one instruction, questions, and tailored support. Practice strategies for different question types, work on targeted math and grammar concepts, and develop a pacing plan. Individual feedback helps you identify what is working and where another approach or more practice could help.
At the end, you’ll receive an ESM Prep recommendation for continuing preparation at home. The aim is to give the next round of practice a clear direction, alongside focused preparation during the summer program.
This two-week afternoon test-preparation course for high school students takes place on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as part of Summer Discovery’s summer program. Why ACT/SAT Preparation Skills Matter
ACT/SAT preparation is not only about reviewing content. Students also need to recognize question types, manage limited time, choose an effective approach, and recover when a problem feels unfamiliar. Building those habits can make practice more focused and test day more manageable.
A personalized plan helps students use their effort where it matters most. With one-on-one feedback, students can see which strategies fit their needs, strengthen targeted math and grammar skills, and take greater ownership of how they prepare over time.
Who Should Attend?
For students who have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
You may be starting ACT or SAT preparation or looking for a better way to use the work you’ve already done. This course offers focused time and individual guidance for either starting point.
Complete the pre-program questionnaire so ESM Prep can tailor your plan. Dedicated two-hour sessions combine practice, questions, and feedback, with a recommendation for continuing at home.
Your Summer at University of Michigan
Programs on the University of Michigan campus give high-school students the experience of exploring an academic interest in Ann Arbor, a college town where campus and community life blend together. Tree-lined streets, downtown bookstores and cafés, the Nichols Arboretum, and trails near the Huron River create different ways to experience the setting beyond class.
Students learn alongside peers, navigate a large and active campus, and gain independence through everyday choices in a new environment. The experience helps students understand what university life can feel like while giving them space to deepen an interest without having every next step decided. For families, the program offers a meaningful combination of academic depth, community, personal growth, and clearer direction about what a student may want to study or pursue next.

After successfully finishing this course, you will be awarded a certification completion for your accomplishment.
