Rally, practice, and play matches with coaching in this 2-week tennis camp for high school students in Summer Discovery’s UC San Diego program.
Course Description
A good rally makes you want to play another. Find new hitting partners and spend two hours a day serving, rallying, and playing matches, with coaches helping you along the way.
In this camp you will work on forehands, backhands, serves, and volleys, then bring them into point play. Coaches offer tips between points, so you can make an adjustment and try it in the next rally. Groups are matched by ability to keep the play challenging and enjoyable.
Practice placing a serve, coming to the net, and covering the court with a doubles partner. Footwork, agility, and conditioning drills keep you moving, while games give you plenty of chances to choose a shot and see what happens. Whether you’re working toward a steadier backhand or enjoying a close match, camp makes room for both practice and play.
This two-week morning camp for high school students is part of Summer Discovery at UC San Diego in La Jolla, California.

Why Tennis Camp
More balls hit, more chances to try a shot, and a coach there to help. Camp gives you time to focus on a stroke and then enjoy the challenge of using it in a match.
New hitting partners bring variety to every session. Spend an active part of your summer sharing rallies, playing points, and enjoying tennis with other players who want to be on court.
Who Should Attend?
For students who have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
Love a long rally or a close match? Bring that enthusiasm to a camp with regular coaching and new hitting partners. School, club, lesson, and recreational players are grouped by ability. You should already be able to keep a ball in play; this camp suits players with some experience better than beginners learning the strokes.
Your Summer at UCSD
UC San Diego’s coastal campus in La Jolla offers high school students a chance to experience university life in Southern California. Open spaces, distinctive architecture, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean make the setting memorable beyond the training sessions.
Outside camp, students can connect with new friends, join program activities, and develop independence as part of a university community. The surrounding San Diego region brings together recreation, culture, science, and technology, giving students a wider context for their summer experience.

After successfully finishing this course, you will be awarded a certification completion for your accomplishment.
