Course Description
This cross-disciplinary field combines principles of the natural sciences to understand the biological functions behind human behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Covering introductory concepts involved in these areas of study, you’ll learn how neuroplasticity, chemical processes, and gene functions cognitively impact the brain with memory, decision-making, and language. Course topics will include neurotransmission and communication, sensory and perceptual processes, cognition and decision making, research methods, and emerging trends. By the end of this program, you’ll have a solid foundation in the essentials of BCN enabling you to further explore the depths of this captivating field or apply your knowledge to other disciplines, including psychology, neuroscience, medicine, and beyond. Join us in unraveling the mysteries of the brain and the mind.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Students will explore new technology and innovation currently under development with brain research. They will choose a technology or innovative concept in the research and development phase and evaluate its use for the next generation, the impacts it will have on targeted audiences and on other disciplines (economics, workforce, etc.), and the benefits/challenges associated with implementation. They will persuade or dissuade continued research and development in this field for a targeted audience and prepare for a Q & A session.
