Applicants must be 21 years of age by June 14th, 2012 for all domestic programs.
Applicants must be 25 years of age by June 14th, 2012 for Cambridge, Spain and Italy. A proficiency in a foreign language and study abroad experience is required. Applicants must be proficient in driving a manual transmission in order to be considered for our Cambridge program. (Priority goes to returning staff).
Applicants must hold a valid U.S. driver's license and have a safe driving record.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervise, counsel, accompany, live with and be a role model for teenagers.
Counselors must be unselfish, have a high energy level and reflect a maturity that places the needs of the students and fellow staff members above their own.
Supervise student's safety and behavior while traveling to off campus excursions.
Counselors are responsible to reinforce, support, and follow the policies, values, rules and regulations of Summer Discovery and Discovery Internship Programs, Inc.
Chaperone students daily in dorms or other accommodations.
Counselors accompany students to medical facilities.
Counselors are on duty around the clock throughout the duration of the assigned program period.
The following apply to ALL Resident Counselors (RCs):
RCs are responsible to oversee a group of approximately 10-15 students, known as an "RC Group".
RCs provide transportation in 7 passenger minivans.
RCs assist students with their academics. (i.e. tutoring, study groups, proofreading, etc.)
RCs supervise residence hall living and accompany students on excursions off campus.
RCs rotate working in the office, town duty and checking students into the dorm and overseeing students each night.
