Who will make my flight arrangements?

We recommend that all international students book their own flights to and from the program.

Students must arrive to campus on the start date of the program, and depart on the end date. Arriving early or leaving late will not be possible. Please make your flight arrangements early.

How will I know the staff at the airport?

Summer Discovery staff will be wearing green Summer Discovery t-shirts and holding Summer Discovery signs. We will identify you by your colorful Summer Discovery luggage tags, which you will receive in the mail prior to the program.

How do I make payment?

All international payments must be made as follows:

1. By check drawn on a US bank in US funds payable to SUMMER DISCOVERY (i.e. international money order) or
2. By wire transfer to include the following information:

i. The First National Bank of Long Island, Glen Head, NY

ii. For the account of SUMMER DISCOVERY, Account # 02-7019363
iii. Re: NAME OF STUDENT must be noted
iv. Please FAX a copy of Transaction and a copy of your Enrollment Form to SUMMER DISCOVERY at (516) 625-3438

Bank charges incurred are the responsibility of the student/parent. SUMMER DISCOVERY will credit only the actual payment in US dollars credited to SUMMER DISCOVERY by The First National Bank of Long Island.

International Students may postpone forwarding the $75 Application Fee and instead remit $1275 ($75 Application Fee, $200 International Registration and Health Insurance Fee, and $1000 Program Deposit) upon acceptance to the program.

Special Note: All international students who live outside of North America and attending a program in the USA, will be invoiced a non-refundable $200 International Registration and Health Insurance Fee which includes health/medical insurance coverage (with deductible) while attending SUMMER DISCOVERY, international courier fees, and personal meet and assist at all airport arrivals/departures in the US.

What is the $200 Intl Registration/Medical insurance fee?

This fee includes health/medical coverage for the duration of the program, international courier fees, and personal meet and assist at all airport arrivals/departures in the US. This is applicable for progams in the USA only.

How do I apply to Summer Discovery?

DON'T DELAY, APPLY TODAY!

All materials must be submitted to the Summer Discovery Office:

Summer Discovery Application (either download form from our website or from the back of the Summer Discovery catalog) accompanied by the $95 application fee
High School Counselors Recommendation (Part 2 of the application) completed by a Counselor, Advisor, or Dean
Transcript (grades)

Once you are accepted we will send you the acceptance letter and an enrollment form. The enrollment form and deposit of $1000 must be returned to the Summer Discovery Office to ensure enrollment.

After April 1, all fees and tution will be due upon enrollment into a Summer Discovery program.

Do I need to obtain a VISA?

Students and their families are responsible for obtaining any required Visas. Due to the brief period of the program, international students should obtain a short stay TOURIST visa, (not a STUDENT visa), from the American Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
