Note: Renzulli Discovery is independent of Yale University, its faculty, and its admissions office. Residential students must be 13 years old by the start of the program.
Tuition includes: Term fees, academic and enrichment program, housing in Yale’s Residence Hall, comprehensive welcome orientation and ice-breakers, meals on campus, use of Yale’s recreation facilities, where permitted, activities, trips, and excursions per catalog, transportation to and from all included activities.
Not included: $100 application fee; $70 student ID/technology fee, airfare, airport transfers, books/class materials and course supplements, meals off campus, laundry, shopping, spending money, medical expenses
Commuter student tuition includes: Academic program, lunch in Yale’s dining hall Monday-Friday, daily afternoon activity, and access to our Yale study lounge. Overnight stays are not permitted.
Summer Discovery is proud to offer Renzulli Discovery at Yale, a unique 3 week educational research experience for gifted and talented students. The Renzulli model places a greater emphasis on creative learning and investigative research, based on students’ passion, learning style, and gifted potential. Yale University, a private Ivy League research university located in New Haven, Connecticut. It is the third oldest university in the U.S. and one of the most selective. Notable alumni include 5 U.S. Presidents, 19 Supreme Court Justices, and 52 Nobel Laureates. Its leafy, 260-acre campus is the ultimate location for a unique summer enrichment experience.
After applying, students take the Renzulli Profiler designed by Dr. Joseph Renzulli to identify areas of giftedness. The results are shared with students and parents to help choose one of the following “Enrichment Clusters” or subject areas of focus:
Students brainstorm with like-minded students and create a “Research Project Management Plan” to keep them on track as they explore real-life issues and propose solutions. Students conduct investigative research individually and collaboratively while being guided by their research mentors, who are facilitators that support the students through every step of their learning journey.
The program culminates in a presentation to the class and parents and is recorded for viewing and available online.

You must arrive on the specified arrival day of July 14 and departure day of August 3 only. If this is not possible, you must arrive the day after arrival day or depart the day before departure day. There are no rooms available at our residence hall outside of the dates of the program.
Our travel agency, Musiker Travel, makes all flight arrangements for students from North America upon request. If you live outside of North America, you will receive instructions for making your own flight arrangements. Students who are being driven to campus will receive directions in the spring.
Renzulli Discovery provides escorted transfers from/to JFK International Airport (JFK) for $95 each way. We will meet you at either the baggage claim area or outside customs for international flights to assist with your arrival. For departures, our staff will assist you with check-in and accompany you to security.
Students who live in the New Haven, CT area can participate in our program as a commuter student. Live at home and take part in the program. Join your enrichment cluster Monday-Friday.
Commuter students are dropped off at 8:30am and picked up at 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Commuter student tuition includes your enrichment cluster and lunch in the dining hall Monday-Friday. Day students are not permitted to stay overnight at Yale. Weekend activities are not available to day students.
