The best of both worlds. Start your summer at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After 3 awesome weeks at Michigan, travel with your friends for a spectacular weekend in Chicago. Then it’s off to the west coast for 2 weeks at UCLA. You’re going to love the California lifestyle.

Would you rather start your summer on the west coast? Try the reverse. Enjoy 3 amazing weeks in Los Angeles at UCLA. Next, stopover in Chicago for the weekend on the way to Michigan. Complete your summer with 2 fun-filled weeks at Michigan and learn the true meaning of GO BLUE!

    A typical weekday on campus

    Every day on campus is unique, but here is a preview of what you can expect:

    • 8.30am Wake up and head to breakfast where you can enjoy a bagel, eggs, fruit, and more on your way to class.
    • 9.30am Grab your notebook and pen and don’t be late for class.
    • 11.30am What’s one great thing about college? Long lunch breaks. Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends, catch up on homework, or workout at the gym.
    • 1.00pm Back to class, but not always in the classroom. Many classes take field trips around town to local businesses, movie studios, and sports stadiums. 
    • 3.00pm Your summer, your way. Sign up for the activities you want to do. Choose from sports, shopping, beaches, museums, college visits, and more.
    • 6.00pm Dinner time. Enjoy the unlimited portions at the dining hall. How much pizza can you eat?
    • 8.00pm Movies. Comedy shows. Concerts. Major league sports. You will never forget the memories you make with your friends this summer.
    • 11.00pm Enjoy a pizza, watch a movie, or play games in the lounge. After a full day, it’s nice to relax with friends in the residence hall.

    Summer Discovery at Michigan

    • Residential Life Live on the hill in Mosher-Jordan Residence Hall and eat at the Hill Dining Center.
    • Academics Explore your interests. Sport Management. Careers in Medicine. Architectural Design, and more.
    • Activities Discover the midwest this summer. From Cedar Point Amusement Park to comedy shows to Detroit Tigers games, every day on and off campus is action-packed.
    • Sports Tour the 'Big House' and take advantage of Michigan's Big Ten athletic facilities.

    Summer Discovery at UCLA

    • Residential Life Our home at UCLA is Hedrick Summit Suites, right next to our modern dining hall.
    • Academics Choose from over 40 different classes in a wide range of subjects.
    • Activities Manhattan Beach. Disneyland. LA Dodgers games. Spend your summer discovering everything LA has to offer.
    • Sports Workout at the Wooden Center, just one of the amazing Pac-12 athletic facilities at UCLA.

    Chicago Windy City Weekend

    Enjoy 3 days and 2 nights in the windy city on your way to UCLA or Michigan. We’ll shop the Magnificent Mile, grab a bite at Navy Pier, take an evening cruise on Lake Michigan and so much more. You’ll also have the chance to visit Northwestern University.

    Bus transportation, hotel accommodations, activities, and 2 meals per day are included.

    Arrival and departure days

    You must arrive and depart on the specified arrival and departure days only, at the airports listed below. If this is not possible, you must arrive the day after arrival day or depart the day before departure day. There are no rooms available at our residence hall outside of the dates of the program.

    5 week session: Arrive June 30, depart August 3

    Booking Travel 

    All Combo Program students enjoy a weekend in Chicago on the way to UCLA or Michigan. The chaperoned group flight to/from Chicago is booked exclusively by Musiker Travel. There is an additional fee for the flight which is not included in your tuition.

    Airport Transfers

    Summer Discovery provides escorted transfers from/to Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) and from/to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for $75 each way. We meet you at baggage claim or outside customs for international flights, and assist with your departure.

    Tuition includes: Academics, housing, meals and activities as described in each campus' section, and Chicago Weekend.

    Not included: Application fee, $95 student ID/technology fee, airfare from/to home city and to/from Chicago, airport transfers, course supplements, etc., as described in each individual campus' section.
