        The Business of Entertainment, Media & Sports is a course of study focusing on the entertainment, media, and sports industries. This course is designed to provide students with an overview of the principles of marketing and business development as seen through the lens of the entertainment, media and sports industries. You will the learn the marketing framework of companies that drive these highly competitive, fast-paced, billion-dollar industries forward in their quests to entertain, inform, and inspire the world.

        You will gain a core understanding of marketing strategy, branding, insights and analytics, ethics, and leadership. Additionally, students will explore the factors driving change in these industries. Through case studies and lectures, students will learn about decision-making and strategic planning, consumer behavior, integrated marketing, earned media, sponsorship, sales and business development.

        Sherí Barros 

        Sherí Barros is an award-winning, accomplished brand marketing executive with a body of work spanning over 18 years across some of the world’s most recognized and respected sports entertainment brands.  Her career includes management of the marketing department for Spurs Sports & Entertainment; Vice President of Marketing for privately-held media, sports and entertainment conglomerate, Cooper Holdings, where she led corporate clients’ sponsorship portfolios across the U.S. within the NBA, MLS, International Soccer, Action Sports, WWE, and worked alongside leading entertainment agencies CAA and United Entertainment Group.

        Ms. Barros’ expertise has been solicited as a Chief Brand Strategist & Consultant.  Additionally, as the Global Strategic Director of Sports Alliances for the American Cancer Society, Sherí works alongside the NFL to lead one of the most impactful cause marketing partnerships in pro sports: the National Football League’s Crucial Catch initiative to fight cancer. 

        In 2019, Sherí was named as an inaugural jury member of the ‘Entertainment for Sport’ Cannes Lions award, one of the most prestigious global marketing awards in the world.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Integrated Marketing at New York University, and now an instructor with UCLA’s Center for Management of Enterprise in Media, Entertainment & Sports (MEMES).  Ms. Barros received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and master’s degree from the University of North Texas.


        Felisa Israel

        After a 20+ year career in the NBA, including serving as NBA Entertainment’s Director of Live Programming and Entertainment and helping to start the WNBA, Felisa started her own live event production company, 10 Fold Entertainment. Guided by a passion for creating memorable live moments and a philosophy of doing everything tenfold, Felisa and her team have partnered with some of the biggest names in Sports, Entertainment & Media to produce a variety of successful events, using their unique blend of expertise to excite audiences and exceed expectations at every stop. 

        After leaving the NBA, Felisa wanted to make an impact beyond the world of sports. She has since worked with charities such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Straight But Not Narrow to produce fundraising and awareness events, moderated and participated in panels with industry experts to help further positive and creative discussions, and built a strong relationship with the UCLA Anderson School of Management, teaching students, hiring and training interns, and influencing the next generation of rock stars in their fields. This experience led her to create IMPACT Internship, a professional development training and internship placement program for college students interested in careers in Sports and Entertainment.

      • Game Changers in Modern Business (UCLA)

        This course seeks to explore how entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg used their ideas and innovations like Amazon, WeWork, Netflix, Uber, and Airbnb, to change the world. These entrepreneurs have altered the way people think, behave, and act about a certain idea, item, product, or service. This class will examine case studies on some of the most influential entrepreneurs’ strategies, values, risks, and ultimately their results. This course provides the framework to understand the nature of disruption that is happening to industry after industry. Students will then have to demonstrate how they would apply these values as they seek to write their business plan. Students will be able to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills to find unique and new approaches to old problems while designing their own disruptive business plan.

        Natasha Lucio
        Natasha Lucio earned her BBA and MBA in Management at the University of Texas-Pan American. While earning her graduate degree, she began working at the Women’s Business Center as a Business Advisor, counseling entrepreneurs on how to start, build, and grow their ventures. She developed numerous seminars on the concepts of innovation, market analysis, the value triad, AI, and technology in business and demand management, just to name a few. 

        Upon graduating, she moved to Los Angeles and worked with high profile celebrities and management agencies where she furthered her understanding and exposure to brand development. This allowed her to gain invaluable first-hand experience in being resourceful, growing, and implementing groundbreaking strategies and creating competitive marketing tactics, which she is now sharing with her students through her courses. 

        Currently, she develops and teaches curriculum for Small Business Development, Opportunity Analysis, Introduction to Business, Concepts of Entrepreneurship, and The Entrepreneurial Mindset. She continues to inspire and motivate students to pursue their ventures and start their own business, guiding them with a step-by-step analysis of business principles and by sharing her knowledge, strategies, and experience.

        This course will provide insight into the ever-changing business of sports and an appreciation for the unique challenges involved in managing sports business enterprises. Students will explore business frameworks including finance, marketing, strategy, and economics. Through an introduction to concepts, analyses, and principles, this academy will challenge students with a wide array of sports business-oriented curriculum. Students will learn to understand the business and management of sports and will be provided with behind the scenes virtual visits to L.A.’s famous arenas and stadiums.

        Mark Francis holds an MBA and MA in Sports Administration and a Diploma in University Teaching from the University of New Brunswick (Canada).  He currently serves as Principal and Founder of MARK ONE Sports & Entertainment in Los Angeles whose key clients have included Concordia University Irvine, UC Irvine, Cal Lutheran University. Edwards Technologies International, Panasonic, California Center and BaAM Productions. He also serves as a Lecturer in Sports Business at UCLA Anderson’s Center for Media, Entertainment and Sports, and is a course developer and lecturer for the MBA program in Hockey Business for Athabasca University in Edmonton, Canada.  Mark also had the privilege of acting as the Lead Instructor for UCLA Extension’s Custom Programs in Sports & Entertainment Marketing in Shanghai, China in 2016, and served in a similar capacity for Jiaotong University of Shanghai in 2018.

        Mark boasts a wealth of experience at all levels of Sports & Entertainment with significant interest and expertise in fan/guest engagement technologies, large-scale event management and marketing. Through his current and prior professional associations with numerous esteemed Sports & Entertainment organizations, Mark has developed an extensive professional network of leaders throughout all levels of these industries, many of whom appear annually during his Sports Business program at UCLA Anderson. He also serves on the international board of advisors for the European-based IBJA Sports Alliance Group.

        Mark served Head Coach the Men’s Ice Hockey program at UCLA since 2010 and won the 2017 PAC 8 Conference Championship along with the LA Kings College Cup and Crosstown Cup Championships respectively and he has recently rejoined the Bruins as a Senior Advisor. He was also selected as one of two finalists for the PAC 8 Coach of the Year Award for 2012 and was selected as Head Coach of the PAC-8 Selects at the ACHA National Championships in Philadelphia in 2011 and 2013 respectively. He also served a two-year term serving as the Associate Executive Director of the PAC 8 Men’s Hockey Conference. Mark holds 2 CIS (Canada) National Silver Medals and 2 Atlantic University Sport Championships from his time with the University of New Brunswick Men’s Ice Hockey program.

        Social media statistics from 2019 show that there are an estimated 3.2 billion social media users worldwide. The internet has revolutionized the way business is conducted. People are now able to directly interact with their favorite brands. Digital marketing and social media are the tools used by the largest of the Fortune 500s to the smallest of the startups to gain instant brand recognition and fuel their growth. This course explores the business side of social media, examining how individuals and organizations leverage social media to develop their brand and grow and interact with their consumers. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of the different social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, WeChat, TikTok, and Twitch. Topics will include brand loyalty, key performance indicators, search engine optimization, conversion from visitor to customer, social media influencers, and customer service. Students will also examine how individuals and organizations build successful brands across multiple platforms and make a post go viral. Students will be able to design and manage their own online brand!

        Sola Bamis
        Sola Bamis is a writer, performer, educator, and filmmaker committed to high-quality art-making across media platforms. She is also the founder of still brave productions, an entertainment production cooperative that specializes in the development, production, and curation of culturally enlightening projects for a global audience.

        Sola received her B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Miami and MFA in acting from the California Institute of the Arts.  She earned a SAG award nomination for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series for her work as Shirley on the final season of “Mad Men” and played Afeni Shakur, mother of rap legend Tupac Shakur, in USA network’s “Unsolved:The Murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.”.  Other television credits include “True Detective”, “Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, “the Magicians”, three seasons on freeform’s “Stitchers”, and more.  An NAACP theatre award nominee, she has worked on regional theatre world premieres, performed in the Ojai Playwrights Conference, and is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and Antaeus Theatre Company.

        Sola’s filmmaking debut “The Event” was an official selection of the 2018 Blackstar and San Francisco black film festivals and, in that same year, she organized the still brave short film showcase at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA as an opportunity for black women to present their short film projects and discuss their work, processes, and identities as black women filmmakers.

        In her work as an independent artist, she has gained extensive experience devising marketing plans for her personal brand and several creative endeavors, curating cultural content and events, and developing unique social media strategies that drive engagement with enthusiasm.  Her strong background in video performance, editing, and direction complements her passion for producing content and experiences that encourage authentic connection.

        This course serves as an introduction to economics through the application and analysis of economic principles and contemporary economic issues. This course will examine the basic tools of economic theory - markets, consumer behavior, and the behavior of firms - as they relate to modern-day issues like globalization, automation, supply chains, and recession recovery. Students will explore how business managers, policymakers, and economic researchers use those economic tools to navigate modern-day challenges. Students will also examine the intended and unintended consequences that decision-makers’ plans and actions have upon the overall economy.

        Joanne Yi (she/they) was born and raised in Stockton, California, where she was inspired by the rich yet largely unrecognized histories of the communities she grew up around. This inspired Joanne to attend UC Berkeley where she majored in Asian American Studies and minored in City Planning. Joanne has used her education to shape political and economic policy through working as a field organizer on campaigns, a staffer in political offices, and an organizer for various nonprofits and grassroots organizations. Currently, Joanne is pursuing her M.Ed at UCLA while also teaching Social Studies in Los Angeles.

      • Engineering in the Maker Age (CU Boulder) - COURSE FULL

        This Academy will bring hands-on engineering, science, and technology to you. Building skills and completing challenges, you will learn the fundamentals of programming, 3D Design, circuitry, material properties, and the engineering design process. You will learn to create designs in TinkerCad while considering the capabilities of the 3D printer used to bring them into the physical world, and get a look at professional and college-level 3D Design tools like Fusion 360 and A-Frame. Working with a breakout board called micro:bit, you’ll program using drag-and-drop programming that runs using Java. Enjoy the autonomy to freely design, build, test, and interact with your bridges, hydraulics, circuits, and all your creations. In addition to gaining the skills to make a culminating project, you will peek under the hood and see the process of engineering and how to make things for yourself.

        • Students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Engineering and Engineering Design through a series of mini lectures, hands-on projects, and competitions.
        • Students will get a MicroBit and learn how to use it in a variety of applications (make your own smart greenhouse, take data from the natural world, send messages to your friends, make your own step counter, take remote selfies, temperature sensor…)
        • Students will learn the basics of circuits and how to incorporate LEDs into projects. 
        • Students will learn the basics of 3D design using TinkerCAD and Fusion360.

        As a lifelong science and movie geek, I have enjoyed learning about science, biology, and physics, as well as how science informs our culture and vice versa. I graduated from CSU with a degree in biology, and have been teaching ever since! In my time apart from Science Discovery, I am an avid cyclist and amateur astronomer.  I'm engaged in the University of Colorado Boulder’s Science Discovery program which introduces high schoolers to the STEM research experience.

        This program brings together future leaders from across the globe to engage in hands-on projects that will tackle the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Goals Development. Established in 2015 with input from many nations, these goals have the power to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change.  

        Students in this program are problem-solvers, go-getters, team players, and critical thinkers ready to “roll up their sleeves” and dig into solutions! Students will be assigned teams and a facilitator where they will work on original research to design solutions to their chosen problem. Teamwork will be paired with class time sessions where students will have guest instructors and panelists from a variety of sectors providing lessons on leadership, innovation, goal setting, problem-solving, and more. Each team will present their final solutions via Microsoft Teams to the class – helping students connect with modern business technology and learn virtual public speaking!

        Like a little friendly competition? Great! One team from each session will be selected for recognition at the Ideagen Global Awards Gala on October 8, 2020. 

        75 Years of Action
        This year the United Nations is marking its 75th anniversary at a time where the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are more crucial for society and the planet than ever before. It is Ideagen’s mission to continue its partnerships with UN members, global youth, business leaders, and civil society so that we may come together to create innovative solutions to some of the world’s most vexing problems.         Course Two Week Agenda 

        Week One Overview:
        Global industry leaders will be teaching students about the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Ideagen sees this week as crucial for championing future leaders, as the UN SDG’s hold relevant to everyone across the globe. Ideagen’s Future Global Leaders Academy is in a great position to act as a medium for which both domestic and international students may get a headstart in their understanding and relationship with the very goals many of them may someday be striving towards. Students in both the morning and evening sessions will learn 3-4 goals per day. Students will constantly be getting a fresh perspective on goals as different experts will rotate to teach different goals. 

        Week Two Overview: 
        Week two will consist of the students forming teams with the goal of creating a solution to one of the 17 goals. Under the direction of their instructor’s, students will be able to utilize the knowledge gained from week one and actually apply it to real-world situations. Not only does this maintain Ideagen’s goal of fostering cross-sector collaboration in reference to the UN SDGs, but it also encourages students to become actively involved in finding solutions to them. Likewise, it also gives students the opportunity to practice real-world soft skills like leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

        I invent new sensing techniques and build innovative hardware and software systems to address hard challenges in healthcare sensing, sustainability sensing, and human-computer interaction. My research often requires identifying and exploiting physical phenomena around us in unique ways to continually redefine what, and how, signals can be sensed. In addition to computer science, my research incorporates a deep understanding of applied physics, embedded systems, design-for-manufacturability, machine learning, software-defined radios, and cyber-physical security. More recently,
        I have been interested in revenue growth, competitive business, and go-to-market strategy development.
         
        In 2014, I graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Washington's Computer Science and Engineering department specializing in Ubiquitous Computing. My Ph.D. work focused on developing novel sensing technologies and supporting software for the home that uses minimal sensors that are low cost and easy to deploy. I also built and evaluated innovative electro-mechanical haptic feedback interfaces.
         
        At Microsoft Research, I have previously worked on bridging applied physics with HCI to come up with interesting haptics and sensing techniques. In my current role, I focus on developing wearable sensors for clinical decision making.

        I was named one of Forbes "30 under 30" disrupters in technology by Forbes magazine in January 2012. I enjoy photography, embedded hardware hacking and tinkering, and gourmet cooking. 


        Sean Callinicos
        Government Relations & Public Policy Executive

        With more than 20+ years as a government relations and public policy executive, Sean successfully led teams in complex legislative campaigns for corporations facing significant political, financial, legal, and reputational risk. Sean excels at establishing and developing government relations and public policy teams to work with C-suite executives to achieve business objectives. Sean previously served as general counsel on both personal and committee staff in the US Senate and practiced corporate law. 


        George Sifakis

        Prior to his current role as Ideagen’s Global chairman and CEO, George served as Assistant to the President of the United States and Director of the Office of Public Liaison at the White House. Having served in the Administration of two US Presidents and founded Axela and Ideagen over a decade ago, George has crafted countless successful policy, strategic partnerships, global cross-sector collaboration, grassroots, and executive communications strategies for members. George has served in all branches of the Federal Government including as Executive, Legislative US Senate Committee Staffer at the Committee on Small Business, and Docket Clerk at the US Attorney's Office.
         
        As Director of Public Liaison at the White House, George was responsible for leading a team, coordinating engagement with Business Leaders, NGO and Public Sector from across all sectors and issues on behalf of the President and Administration.
         
        George is a frequent speaker at global convenings on a myriad topics. George is Global Chairman and CEO of Ideagen Global LLC, A Global Accelerator where the world's Global Leaders and CEO's from companies, NGO's and public sector convene to develop systemic solutions via catalytic collaboration to solve for x.
         
        Arlington, Virginia is home for George and his family, including his wife Adriana and three children, George, Alexa, and Evangelia. George is fluent in Greek and enjoys learning how to play golf.


        John R. Mulberger 
        Chief Digital Officer

        John Mulberger was born and raised in historic Alexandria, VA, and graduated high school from TC Williams. He grew up in an entrepreneurial household with both of his parents being founders and executives in successful businesses. This, in part, led him to pursue a business degree, with which he graduated with honors, from the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. John is a proud alumni brother of Phi Sigma Kappa and, while pursuing his undergraduate degree, he held numerous positions on his fraternity’s executive board including Vice President. He interned in the business development sector of a promotional products distributor. He was responsible for responding to incoming product inquires, determining and fulfilling the needs of potential customers, and bringing new clients to the firm. John also interned for the Atlantic Council, an international Washington DC-based think tank. While there, he worked in the events department conducting research on potential donors and helping to set up and run special events.

        After achieving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he went on to achieve a Master's of Marketing degree at the American University’s Kogod School of Business where he served as a graduate ambassador for the program. In his free time, John enjoys being outdoors where he is an avid boater, trap shooter, and fisherman. He enjoys attending local concerts and loves to travel internationally. John can be looked to for his strong communication and speaking skills, as a former DC debate champion, and enjoys engaging others in conversation. He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer for Ideagen Global where he oversees all digital content, marketing, and branding for the firm. 


        Cooper Henderson

        Cooper Henderson is a Dallas Texas Native with an international and global perspective. He enjoys travel, learning languages, and collaborating with others on an international scale, this in part led him to pursue a degree in International Relations. Upon Graduation from Westlake Academy high school, he attended his first years of college at the prestigious National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. While there his studies focused on Southeast Asian business, politics, culture, and language. After gaining relative fluency in Mandarin Chinese, he returned to the US to further his education at an American University, Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M University He studied international relations with a focus on international politics and diplomacy. In his free time, he served as the Social Chair for Phi Delta Theta fraternity, was an officer in Chinese Club, and was a co-founder of a student mentorship program for underclassman students. 

        After achieving his Bachelor’s degree at the top of his class in International Relations, he went on to serve as a Senior Fellow at Ideagen Global. While in that position he gained experience collaborating and working with some of the world’s top global industries. He has worked with senior representatives from organizations such as Microsoft, The United Nations, AARP, USAID, and more. In his current role as the Director of Executive Engagement and Global Thought Leader for Ideagen, he manages Executive outreach and partnerships with industry CEO’s, Diplomats, and senior staff members.

      • Decoding the Criminal Mind: An Introduction to Criminal Psychology (UCLA)

        This course is an introduction to psychology with an emphasis on criminal behavior. Students will examine the different theories of criminal behavior: psychodynamic, biological, genetic, social learning, behavioral, and cognition, developmental and cultural issues in criminal behavior; sociological theories; violence and aggression; sex offenses; and the role of substance abuse. This course will also explore how law enforcement uses profiling techniques to help identify and capture individuals who have broken the law. After taking this course, students will be able to identify and define psychological terminology and concepts, specifically as they relate to criminal psychology. In addition, students will be able to identify psychological tendencies as they related to criminal behavior, apprehension, and prevention. Students will also be introduced to psychological research and how to analyze and interpret this research.

        Joseph Dorri

        Joe is an educator and researcher in the field of psychology and college success. He was mentored by and worked with Philip Zimbardo, who conducted the famous Stanford Prison Experiment. Joe has shared his research at the Western Psychological Association’s convention. His accolades include graduating in the top 69 among two million college students, being presented to the California State Legislature, and receiving The Most Promising Future Educator Award. He has taught and mentored youth in psychology, statistics, and martial arts for more than fifteen years. His current mentor is Noam Chomsky, a pioneer in the fields of linguistics and cognitive science. Joe has written a book and founded The Good Student, a nonprofit that uses psychological science to help students succeed in high school and college and live meaningful lives. He also gives research advice to various companies that use physiological measures and gaming programs to support mental health among the public and youth. Joe speaks a couple of languages and presents and facilitates workshops to groups large and small. When not working, he enjoys walking his dogs, having green tea, and making new friends.

      • Science Simulations and 3D Video Games (CU Boulder)

        How far and how fast will a contagious disease spread? What happens when an ecosystem population gets out of control? What factors most affect how devastating a wildfire will be? These and other questions can only be answered by modeling – computer simulation of real-life problems.

        It turns out that the same computational thinking and programming skills used to create video games can be used to make simulations to address big problems. In this course, we will start with simple models and learn how to enhance and improve them to try to answer questions like those posed above. We will also see how these same techniques parallel the design and implementation of video games, and we will see the main difference: video games are solved problems; whereas, models of real-life problems pose continuing challenges. We will use a science modeling and game design system – AgentCubes Online – to quickly develop problem descriptions into fun and challenging models. Each student will have an individual account for creating projects and have full access to the software tools during the course.

        Fred Gluck’s academic background is in engineering, mathematics, and computer science. He served in the nuclear Navy for five years and then in the computer industry for about 40 years. Fred is now in his twenty-fourth year of teaching for Science Discovery at CU Boulder. Science Discovery is a STEM-based program that introduces high school students to STEM courses. Fred has also been volunteering in Boulder Valley schools for more than 25 years. Fred’s current focus is motivating students to consider pursuing computer science and computer-related fields both academically and as a career.

      • Biotechnology and Medical Research (CU Boulder) - Application Closed

        Love science and helping others, but not sure patient care is right for you? This two-week biotechnology course will allow students to gain perspective on non-clinical careers in biomedical sciences that advance medicine and healthcare. Five graduate students with backgrounds in molecular biology, computer science, mathematics, and biochemistry will lecture on a range of scientific topics relevant to fundamental concepts of biomedical sciences.

        Over two weeks, this class will take a closer look at how infectious disease can be studied from several different perspectives. During the first week, we will dive into the world of infectious diseases, detail key wet-lab procedures, and introduce bioinformatics tools. In the second week, we will gain a perspective on the societal impact of disease with discussions in computer modeling and how new treatments are developed into real products that benefit patients. We will hear from CU faculty and guest speakers from industry who will provide insight to a wide range of careers in medical sciences and how you can get there. Students will be invited to work on small assignments after lectures to strengthen their understanding of the presented material.

        Students will learn about PCR, DNA extraction and Gel Electrophoresis through a series of virtual lab simulations. They'll become familiar with the CRISPR system of gene manipulation and get an introduction to Python programming as they use large data sets to distill out patterns in biomedical data. Learn how drugs go from the research to market phase while engaging with biotech industry professionals!

        Kristen Schneider is a PhD candidate in Dr. Ryan Layer’s lab in the Department of Computer Science at CU. She studies population genetics and computational genomics to develop novel algorithms that can leverage population-scale datasets to better understand how genetic variation affects human health. Kristen graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science from the University of Iowa in 2018. During Summer 2019, Kristen was a lecturer for CU Science Discovery courses "The Science of Toys" and "If You Build It": two physics-based courses for students entering grades 2-4. Outside of her research, Kristen is active on many intramural sports teams, enjoys going for leisurely runs around Boulder’s scenic foothills, and is always available to dog-sit your furry friend.

        Alison Leonard is a PhD student in Dr. Timothy Whitehead’s lab in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at CU Boulder. She studies computational protein design and antibody engineering. Originally from the Seattle area, Alison graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry with College Honors from the University of Washington in 2015. Prior to starting graduate school, Alison was an Associate Scientist in Process Development at the startup Just Biotherapeutics where she contributed to the design and implementation of Just’s biologics development platform to expand global access to protein therapeutics. Outside the lab, Alison is an avid skier and enjoys hiking and team sports.

        Sharon Wu is a PhD student in Dr. Sara Sawyer's lab in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at CU Boulder. She studies the mechanisms of viral spillover and host-pathogen co-evolution. A San Francisco Bay Area native, she graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and Molecular Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017. She then spent two years working as a research technician and computational analyst in the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Cancer Research. In her free time, Sharon enjoys baking, reading science fiction and fantasy, and a plethora of individual cardiovascular activities.

        Conor Kelly is a professional research assistant in Dr. Edward Chuong’s lab in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) at CU Boulder. He leverages comparative genomics to investigate the contribution of transposable elements (commonly referred as mobile or parasitic DNA) in the evolution of the mammalian innate immune response. Conor graduated with a B.A. in MCDB from CU Boulder in 2018. Outside of the lab, Conor enjoys hiking, cooking, gaming, and spending time with his cats.

        Ethan Hobbs is a computer science PhD student in Dr. Franck Vernerey’s Soft Matter Mechanics lab in Mechanical Engineering at CU Boulder. He studies how to model complex biological systems with an emphasis in ecological networks. A native of Illinois, he graduated from Carthage College in 2018 with a B.A. in Mathematics and Physics.         Natasha Lucio earned her BBA and MBA in Management at the University of Texas-Pan American. While earning her graduate degree, she began working at the Women’s Business Center as a Business Advisor, counseling entrepreneurs on how to start, build, and grow their ventures. She developed numerous seminars on the concepts of innovation, market analysis, the value triad, AI, and technology in business and demand management, just to name a few.

        Welcome to Aerospace Engineering! Our overall goal of this course is to introduce students to Aerospace Engineering concepts, design challenges, and experiences with aircraft, spacecraft, and related engineering sciences. This course will include learning experiences with paper airplanes, gliders, heat shields and space habitats. Your student will speak to people in the aerospace industry and learn about what job opportunities are in the field. Learn about Mars Rovers from someone who has first hand experience designing a piece of the newest Mars Rover. We will be doing a mix of activities, from mini lectures, guest speakers, and discussions. Students will be challenged to start projects during the online portion of the course with direction from the instructor and finish them each afternoon. Even though this course will be virtual, we will focus on having hands-on experiences as much as possible, with students actively building their knowledge and understanding of Aerospace Engineering and its applications. 

        • Students will learn the principles of flight and design and test their own gliders. 
        • Students will learn the basic principles behind rockets and then design and test their own water rockets.
        • Students will learn about the critical moments when a spacecraft is returning to Earth and how the heat shield protects the spacecraft. Students will design and test their own heat shield, taking data on heat transmission through different materials. 
        • Students will hear from experts in the field of Aerospace in a variety of areas: NASA, Academia,and Industry.
        • Students will learn about space missions and their failures and how to avoid them.
        • Students will learn about the challenges of Mars rover communication and do some interactive demos on the challenges that can come up.
        • With their new knowledge of flight, students will compete in a paper airplane competition with discussion on what makes the best plane and the engineering that goes into planes.

        Prithvi Kanugovi
        Prithvi is a 2nd year Masters Student in the Aerospace Engineering Department with a focus in Fluid Mechanics. He completed his Bachelors in Aeronautical Engineering in India in 2018. He also worked for a year in the most prestigious research institute in India, The Indian Institute of Science. Prithvi’s academic interests include fluid flow analysis and he gained experience as an experimentalist during his time at the Indian Institute of Science. He hopes to attain a position in the industry as a fluid flow analyst. Some of his hobbies include playing basketball, hiking, and traveling.

        Siddhi Bhilare
        Siddhi is a masters student in the CU Boulder Aerospace Engineering department. His focus area is bioastronautics, which deals with spacesuits and space habitats for astronauts in microgravity, the moon, and Mars. He has been involved in several projects such as building a lunar habitat mockup for two astronauts on the lunar surface with Lockheed Martin, building an exoskeleton for a jet-suit pilot, and building a prize winning combat robot. I love spacesuits and I try to think of ways in which they can be made better and comfortable for the astronauts.

        This Academy will bring hands-on engineering, science, and technology to you. Building skills and completing challenges, you will learn the fundamentals of programming, 3D Design, circuitry, material properties, and the engineering design process. You will learn to create designs in TinkerCad while considering the capabilities of the 3D printer used to bring them into the physical world, and get a look at professional and college-level 3D Design tools like Fusion 360 and A-Frame. Working with a breakout board called micro:bit, you’ll program using drag-and-drop programming that runs using Java. Enjoy the autonomy to freely design, build, test, and interact with your bridges, hydraulics, circuits, and all your creations. In addition to gaining the skills to make a culminating project, you will peek under the hood and see the process of engineering and how to make things for yourself.

        • Students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Engineering and Engineering Design through a series of mini lectures, hands-on projects, and competitions.
        • Students will get a MicroBit and learn how to use it in a variety of applications (make your own smart greenhouse, take data from the natural world, send messages to your friends, make your own step counter, take remote selfies, temperature sensor…)

        This program brings together future leaders from across the globe to engage in hands-on projects that will tackle the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Goals Development. Established in 2015 with input from many nations, these goals have the power to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change.  

        Students in this program are problem-solvers, go-getters, team players, and critical thinkers ready to “roll up their sleeves” and dig into solutions! Students will be assigned teams and a facilitator where they will work on original research to design solutions to their chosen problem. Teamwork will be paired with class time sessions where students will have guest instructors and panelists from a variety of sectors providing lessons on leadership, innovation, goal setting, problem-solving, and more. Each team will present their final solutions via Microsoft Teams to the class – helping students connect with modern business technology and learn virtual public speaking!

        Like a little friendly competition? Great! One team from each session will be selected for recognition at the Ideagen Global Awards Gala on October 8, 2020.

        Course Two Week Agenda 

        Week One Overview:
        Global industry leaders will be teaching students about the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Ideagen sees this week as crucial for championing future leaders, as the UN SDG’s hold relevant to everyone across the globe. Ideagen’s Future Global Leaders Academy is in a great position to act as a medium for which both domestic and international students may get a headstart in their understanding and relationship with the very goals many of them may someday be striving towards. Students in both the morning and evening sessions will learn 3-4 goals per day. Students will constantly be getting a fresh perspective on goals as different experts will rotate to teach different goals. 

        Week Two Overview: 
        Week two will consist of the students forming teams with the goal of creating a solution to one of the 17 goals. Under the direction of their instructor’s, students will be able to utilize the knowledge gained from week one and actually apply it to real-world situations. Not only does this maintain Ideagen’s goal of fostering cross-sector collaboration in reference to the UN SDGs, but it also encourages students to become actively involved in finding solutions to them. Likewise, it also gives students the opportunity to practice real-world soft skills like leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

        I invent new sensing techniques and build innovative hardware and software systems to address hard challenges in healthcare sensing, sustainability sensing, and human-computer interaction. My research often requires identifying and exploiting physical phenomena around us in unique ways to continually redefine what, and how, signals can be sensed. In addition to computer science, my research incorporates a deep understanding of applied physics, embedded systems, design-for-manufacturability, machine learning, software-defined radios, and cyber-physical security. More recently,
        I have been interested in revenue growth, competitive business, and go-to-market strategy development.
         
        In 2014, I graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Washington's Computer Science and Engineering department specializing in Ubiquitous Computing. My Ph.D. work focused on developing novel sensing technologies and supporting software for the home that uses minimal sensors that are low cost and easy to deploy. I also built and evaluated innovative electro-mechanical haptic feedback interfaces.
         
        At Microsoft Research, I have previously worked on bridging applied physics with HCI to come up with interesting haptics and sensing techniques. In my current role, I focus on developing wearable sensors for clinical decision making.

        I was named one of Forbes "30 under 30" disrupters in technology by Forbes magazine in January 2012. I enjoy photography, embedded hardware hacking and tinkering, and gourmet cooking.

        John Mulberger was born and raised in historic Alexandria, VA, and graduated high school from TC Williams. He grew up in an entrepreneurial household with both of his parents being founders and executives in successful businesses. This, in part, led him to pursue a business degree, with which he graduated with honors, from the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. John is a proud alumni brother of Phi Sigma Kappa and, while pursuing his undergraduate degree, he held numerous positions on his fraternity’s executive board including Vice President. He interned in the business development sector of a promotional products distributor. He was responsible for responding to incoming product inquires, determining and fulfilling the needs of potential customers, and bringing new clients to the firm. John also interned for the Atlantic Council, an international Washington DC-based think tank. While there, he worked in the events department conducting research on potential donors and helping to set up and run special events.

        After achieving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he went on to achieve a Master's of Marketing degree at the American University’s Kogod School of Business where he served as a graduate ambassador for the program. In his free time, John enjoys being outdoors where he is an avid boater, trap shooter, and fisherman. He enjoys attending local concerts and loves to travel internationally. John can be looked to for his strong communication and speaking skills, as a former DC debate champion, and enjoys engaging others in conversation. He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer for Ideagen Global where he oversees all digital content, marketing, and branding for the firm.

        Cooper Henderson is a Dallas Texas Native with an international and global perspective. He enjoys travel, learning languages, and collaborating with others on an international scale, this in part led him to pursue a degree in International Relations. Upon Graduation from Westlake Academy high school, he attended his first years of college at the prestigious National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. While there his studies focused on Southeast Asian business, politics, culture, and language. After gaining relative fluency in Mandarin Chinese, he returned to the US to further his education at an American University, Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M University He studied international relations with a focus on international politics and diplomacy. In his free time, he served as the Social Chair for Phi Delta Theta fraternity, was an officer in Chinese Club, and was a co-founder of a student mentorship program for underclassman students. 

        After achieving his Bachelor’s degree at the top of his class in International Relations, he went on to serve as a Senior Fellow at Ideagen Global. While in that position he gained experience collaborating and working with some of the world’s top global industries. He has worked with senior representatives from organizations such as Microsoft, The United Nations, AARP, USAID, and more. In his current role as the Director of Executive Engagement and Global Thought Leader for Ideagen, he manages Executive outreach and partnerships with industry CEO’s, Diplomats, and senior staff members.

      • Decoding the Criminal Mind: An Introduction to Criminal Psychology (UCLA)

        This course is an introduction to psychology with an emphasis on criminal behavior. Students will examine the different theories of criminal behavior: psychodynamic, biological, genetic, social learning, behavioral, and cognition, developmental and cultural issues in criminal behavior; sociological theories; violence and aggression; sex offenses; and the role of substance abuse. This course will also explore how law enforcement uses profiling techniques to help identify and capture individuals who have broken the law. After taking this course, students will be able to identify and define psychological terminology and concepts, specifically as they relate to criminal psychology. In addition, students will be able to identify psychological tendencies as they related to criminal behavior, apprehension, and prevention. Students will also be introduced to psychological research and how to analyze and interpret this research.

        Joe is an educator and researcher in the field of psychology and college success. He was mentored by and worked with Philip Zimbardo, who conducted the famous Stanford Prison Experiment. Joe has shared his research at the Western Psychological Association’s convention. His accolades include graduating in the top 69 among two million college students, being presented to the California State Legislature, and receiving The Most Promising Future Educator Award. He has taught and mentored youth in psychology, statistics, and martial arts for more than fifteen years. His current mentor is Noam Chomsky, a pioneer in the fields of linguistics and cognitive science. Joe has written a book and founded The Good Student, a nonprofit that uses psychological science to help students succeed in high school and college and live meaningful lives. He also gives research advice to various companies that use physiological measures and gaming programs to support mental health among the public and youth. Joe speaks a couple of languages and presents and facilitates workshops to groups large and small. When not working, he enjoys walking his dogs, having green tea, and making new friends.

        This course introduces video production using the techniques of mobile journalism. Students will learn how to shoot video using smartphones and edit using iMovie. Additionally, students will learn about narrative visual storytelling that communicates a sense of experience to an audience. Students in this course will be taught by University instructors and have the opportunity to conduct high-level interviews with experts on campus all while honing their skills as a visual storyteller.         Paul Daugherty
        Paul is an award-winning public affairs producer and documentary filmmaker. His specialty is producing nature and science documentaries and educational videos. Paul is currently a senior instructor in broadcast journalism at CU Boulder, where he is the faculty adviser for the Emmy-winning student-produced video podcast series, CU Science Update.

        Daugherty has produced, photographed, edited or directed numerous documentaries and public affairs shows, including Urban Ark—The Story of the Denver ZooCovering Columbine, and Space Class, an educational online series sponsored by the Space Foundation and supported by NASA. 

        At CU, Daugherty is the faculty advisor for the Emmy-winning science video series CU Science Update. He's the recipient of several teaching awards, receiving twice the Pyle Teaching Award. Among the classes he teaches are Principles of Broadcast Production; NewsTeam, where students produce a live newscast; Fundamentals of Reporting; and The Art of Visual Storytelling, where he helps students get started with Adobe After Effects.

        Daugherty served 10 years on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Heartland Chapter and still regularly judges Emmy submissions from other chapters in the U.S.  He earned a master’s degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at CU Boulder in broadcast news and management. He is also an Adobe-certified associate for digital work in Premiere Pro and a certified drone pilot for CU Boulder.

        hands-on experiments, programming design, and development, students will learn the basics of robot motion, sensors, and control. Each student will receive their own Sphero RVRobot (a $250 value), the newest product from Sphero. Pronounced (Rover), the Sphero RVR is a great way to learn robotics. Students will complete a set of experiments to learn how to drive and control their robot. Then they will learn to develop software programs usingSphero EDU app on their computer via a wireless Bluetooth connection to the RVR. We will use both the Sphero graphical code blocks and Sphero EDU Javascript languages to program our RVRs. No prior programming experience required! 

        • Students will learn the basics of robot motion, sensing, and control programming.

        Wayne is a lecturer at the ATLAS Institute. He also teaches robotics engineering camps at CU Science Discovery - a program for helping high school students learn more about STEM. Wayne runs the Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic, where participants learn to repair broken appliances, toys, and electronics with help from volunteer “fix-it” coaches. Prior to joining ATLAS, Wayne was a principal product manager at Oracle Corp. and Sun Microsystems responsible for service automation technologies. He holds master's and bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His interests include STEAM education and musical instrument user interfaces, and his work experiences include operating systems and networking, home and office automation, electronics CAD/CAM, database replication, software localization, and telecommunications.

        Ms. Barros’ expertise has been solicited as a Chief Brand Strategist & Consultant.  Additionally, as the Global Strategic Director of Sports Alliances for the American Cancer Society, Sherí works alongside the NFL to lead one of the most impactful cause marketing partnerships in pro sports: the National Football League’s Crucial Catch initiative to fight cancer. 

        In 2019, Sherí was named as an inaugural jury member of the ‘Entertainment for Sport’ Cannes Lions award, one of the most prestigious global marketing awards in the world.  She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Integrated Marketing at New York University, and now an instructor with UCLA’s Center for Management of Enterprise in Media, Entertainment & Sports (MEMES).  Ms. Barros received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and master’s degree from the University of North Texas.


        Felisa Israel

        After a 20+ year career in the NBA, including serving as NBA Entertainment’s Director of Live Programming and Entertainment and helping to start the WNBA, Felisa started her own live event production company, 10 Fold Entertainment. Guided by a passion for creating memorable live moments and a philosophy of doing everything tenfold, Felisa and her team have partnered with some of the biggest names in Sports, Entertainment & Media to produce a variety of successful events, using their unique blend of expertise to excite audiences and exceed expectations at every stop. 

        After leaving the NBA, Felisa wanted to make an impact beyond the world of sports. She has since worked with charities such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Straight But Not Narrow to produce fundraising and awareness events, moderated and participated in panels with industry experts to help further positive and creative discussions, and built a strong relationship with the UCLA Anderson School of Management, teaching students, hiring and training interns, and influencing the next generation of rock stars in their fields. This experience led her to create IMPACT Internship, a professional development training and internship placement program for college students interested in careers in Sports and Entertainment.

She spearheaded the team for Sustainable Embellishments in Copenhagen that won the 2019-2020 President's Award for Global Learning. She is a founding member of "The Circle Project," a trio of educators working alongside textile and apparel students and global thinkers committed to the mission of creating innovative business models in the clothing supply chain. She is currently pursuing a PhD with an emphasis on sustainable design at Iowa State and lives with her husband and two children in Austin.

        Brian Farr has been the Director of UT’s Athletic Training Education Program since its inception in 2002. He received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2011-12, was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2013, and Clinical Associate Professor in 2015. He was a finalist for the UT Regents Outstanding Teaching Award, having been nominated twice. He is the Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Longhorns Sports Medicine Camp and Director and Founder of the Longhorns Lecture Series for Continuing Education, a professional CEU program for area healthcare professionals. He has delivered over two dozen professional presentations on a variety of sports medicine topics and was lead author on a chapter in Clinical Orthopedic Rehabilitation - An Evidence-Based Approach, 3rd ed. and 4th ed.

        Prior to his faculty position, Farr spent three seasons as the athletic trainer for the Longhorn Men’s Basketball team. In addition to tending to the basketball team, he coordinated the athletic training student internship program, coordinated the educational inservice program, and taught for the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education (KHE). Farr came to UT by way of Oklahoma State University where he served as Assistant Coordinator of Sports Medicine working with the Cowboy’s men’s basketball and football teams. He also served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in OSU’s College of Education, where he taught athletic training courses.

        Farr also coordinated OSU’s staff inservice educational series and assisted in the clinical education of OSU’s athletic training students.Farr also spent one year as the head athletic trainer for the Columbus Chill, a minor league, professional ice hockey team; one season as the assistant athletic trainer with the World League of American Football’s (NFL Europe) Scottish Claymores; served as an athletic trainer at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY; and was an intern with the NFL’s Detroit Lions.

        Farr was named to the USOPC Sports Medicine Staff for the 2011 and 2019 Para Pan-Am Games in Mexico and Peru. He also served as the athletic trainer with Team USA Sitting Volleyball at the 2012 WOVD International Cup in Cairo, Egypt, t he World Super Six Tournament in Tabriz, Iran, and the US Nationals in 2015, ‘16, ‘17, and ‘19 as well as Team USA’s Men’s Field Hockey at the Indira Gandhi International Tournament in Lucknow, India.

        Farr earned his bachelor of science degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science from Michigan State University in 1993. He attended graduate school at Syracuse University before completing a two-year graduate assistantship and his master of arts degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from The Ohio State University in 1996.Farr is a nationally certified athletic trainer (ATC), a state licensed athletic trainer (LAT), and a nationally certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). His professional involvement includes serving on several committees and boards at the state, district and national levels. He was awarded the NATA’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2019, the SWATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2019, and the NATA’s Athletic Trainer Service Award in 2016.

Dr. Sapio works for the University of Texas Rhetoric OnRamps Program, and she volunteers her time teaching incarcerated students for the Inside Literature Program.         Students will study the structure and implications of U.S. legal systems, and how laws and policies organize and govern. An overview of the U.S. Constitution will accompany a closer look at how local and national laws and policies impact individuals and communities. Students will analyze the role of laws and courts when people disagree. Students will consider current events and contemporary issues in the context of legal systems (civil and criminal) and the lawyers who navigate them. Students will be able to identify legal issues and summarize and present cogent legal arguments. Digital marketing and social media are the tools used by the largest of the Fortune 500s to the smallest of the startups to gain instant brand recognition and fuel their growth. This course explores the business side of social media, examining how individuals and organizations leverage social media to develop their brand and grow and interact with their consumers. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of the different social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, WeChat, TikTok, and Twitch. Topics will include brand loyalty, key performance indicators, search engine optimization, conversion from visitor to customer, social media influencers, and customer service.         Sola Bamis
        Sola Bamis is a writer, performer, educator, and filmmaker committed to high-quality art-making across media platforms. She is also the founder of still brave productions, an entertainment production cooperative that specializes in the development, production, and curation of culturally enlightening projects for a global audience.

        Sola received her B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Miami and MFA in acting from the California Institute of the Arts.  She earned a SAG award nomination for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series for her work as Shirley on the final season of “Mad Men” and played Afeni Shakur, mother of rap legend Tupac Shakur, in USA network’s “Unsolved:The Murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.”.  Other television credits include “True Detective”, “Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, “the Magicians”, three seasons on freeform’s “Stitchers”, and more.  An NAACP theatre award nominee, she has worked on regional theatre world premieres, performed in the Ojai Playwrights Conference, and is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and Antaeus Theatre Company.

        Sola’s filmmaking debut “The Event” was an official selection of the 2018 Blackstar and San Francisco black film festivals and, in that same year, she organized the still brave short film showcase at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA as an opportunity for black women to present their short film projects and discuss their work, processes, and identities as black women filmmakers.

        In her work as an independent artist, she has gained extensive experience devising marketing plans for her personal brand and several creative endeavors, curating cultural content and events, and developing unique social media strategies that drive engagement with enthusiasm.  Her strong background in video performance, editing, and direction complements her passion for producing content and experiences that encourage authentic connection.

        This program brings together future leaders from across the globe to engage in hands-on projects that will tackle the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Goals Development. Established in 2015 with input from many nations, these goals have the power to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change.  

        Students in this program are problem-solvers, go-getters, team players, and critical thinkers ready to “roll up their sleeves” and dig into solutions! Students will be assigned teams and a facilitator where they will work on original research to design solutions to their chosen problem. Teamwork will be paired with class time sessions where students will have guest instructors and panelists from a variety of sectors providing lessons on leadership, innovation, goal setting, problem-solving, and more. Each team will present their final solutions via Microsoft Teams to the class – helping students connect with modern business technology and learn virtual public speaking!

        Like a little friendly competition? Great! One team from each session will be selected for recognition at the Ideagen Global Awards Gala on October 8, 2020.

        Course Two Week Agenda 

        Week One Overview:
        Global industry leaders will be teaching students about the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Ideagen sees this week as crucial for championing future leaders, as the UN SDG’s hold relevant to everyone across the globe. Ideagen’s Future Global Leaders Academy is in a great position to act as a medium for which both domestic and international students may get a headstart in their understanding and relationship with the very goals many of them may someday be striving towards. Students in both the morning and evening sessions will learn 3-4 goals per day. Students will constantly be getting a fresh perspective on goals as different experts will rotate to teach different goals. 

        Week Two Overview: 
        Week two will consist of the students forming teams with the goal of creating a solution to one of the 17 goals. Under the direction of their instructor’s, students will be able to utilize the knowledge gained from week one and actually apply it to real-world situations. Not only does this maintain Ideagen’s goal of fostering cross-sector collaboration in reference to the UN SDGs, but it also encourages students to become actively involved in finding solutions to them. Likewise, it also gives students the opportunity to practice real-world soft skills like leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

        I invent new sensing techniques and build innovative hardware and software systems to address hard challenges in healthcare sensing, sustainability sensing, and human-computer interaction. My research often requires identifying and exploiting physical phenomena around us in unique ways to continually redefine what, and how, signals can be sensed. In addition to computer science, my research incorporates a deep understanding of applied physics, embedded systems, design-for-manufacturability, machine learning, software-defined radios, and cyber-physical security. More recently,
        I have been interested in revenue growth, competitive business, and go-to-market strategy development.
         
        In 2014, I graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Washington's Computer Science and Engineering department specializing in Ubiquitous Computing. My Ph.D. work focused on developing novel sensing technologies and supporting software for the home that uses minimal sensors that are low cost and easy to deploy. I also built and evaluated innovative electro-mechanical haptic feedback interfaces.
         
        At Microsoft Research, I have previously worked on bridging applied physics with HCI to come up with interesting haptics and sensing techniques. In my current role, I focus on developing wearable sensors for clinical decision making.

        I was named one of Forbes "30 under 30" disrupters in technology by Forbes magazine in January 2012. I enjoy photography, embedded hardware hacking and tinkering, and gourmet cooking.

        John R. Mulberger

        John Mulberger was born and raised in historic Alexandria, VA, and graduated high school from TC Williams. He grew up in an entrepreneurial household with both of his parents being founders and executives in successful businesses. This, in part, led him to pursue a business degree, with which he graduated with honors, from the Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. John is a proud alumni brother of Phi Sigma Kappa and, while pursuing his undergraduate degree, he held numerous positions on his fraternity’s executive board including Vice President. He interned in the business development sector of a promotional products distributor. He was responsible for responding to incoming product inquires, determining and fulfilling the needs of potential customers, and bringing new clients to the firm. John also interned for the Atlantic Council, an international Washington DC-based think tank. While there, he worked in the events department conducting research on potential donors and helping to set up and run special events.

        After achieving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he went on to achieve a Master's of Marketing degree at the American University’s Kogod School of Business where he served as a graduate ambassador for the program. In his free time, John enjoys being outdoors where he is an avid boater, trap shooter, and fisherman. He enjoys attending local concerts and loves to travel internationally. John can be looked to for his strong communication and speaking skills, as a former DC debate champion, and enjoys engaging others in conversation. He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer for Ideagen Global where he oversees all digital content, marketing, and branding for the firm. 


        Cooper Henderson

        Cooper Henderson is a Dallas Texas Native with an international and global perspective. He enjoys travel, learning languages, and collaborating with others on an international scale, this in part led him to pursue a degree in International Relations. Upon Graduation from Westlake Academy high school, he attended his first years of college at the prestigious National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. While there his studies focused on Southeast Asian business, politics, culture, and language. After gaining relative fluency in Mandarin Chinese, he returned to the US to further his education at an American University, Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M University He studied international relations with a focus on international politics and diplomacy. In his free time, he served as the Social Chair for Phi Delta Theta fraternity, was an officer in Chinese Club, and was a co-founder of a student mentorship program for underclassman students. 

        After achieving his Bachelor’s degree at the top of his class in International Relations, he went on to serve as a Senior Fellow at Ideagen Global. While in that position he gained experience collaborating and working with some of the world’s top global industries. He has worked with senior representatives from organizations such as Microsoft, The United Nations, AARP, USAID, and more. In his current role as the Director of Executive Engagement and Global Thought Leader for Ideagen, he manages Executive outreach and partnerships with industry CEO’s, Diplomats, and senior staff members.
