Open to students completing grades 9, 10, 11, & 12

Tuition includes: Term fees, academic and enrichment program, use of facilities, housing, 3 meals daily while on campus (2 meals on weekends), activities and trips, linens.

Not included: Application fee, $70 student ID/technology fee, airfare, airport transfers (available for $40 each way from University Park and $125 each way from JFK), ​overnight stay at an JFK airport hotel on June 30 for an additional $125, class materials, course supplements, meals eaten off campus, medical expenses, laundry, blanket, pillow, souvenirs, and personal spending money.

At Summer Discovery Penn State, we help you prepare for your transition from high school to college. Our pre-college program combines academics, athletics, and activities to give high school students a well-rounded introduction to college life.

A typical weekday at Penn State

Every day at Penn State is unique, but here is a preview of what you can expect on campus:

8.30am Roll out of bed and head to the dining hall where you can enjoy eggs, pastries, fruit, and more on your way to class.

9.30am Grab your notebook and pen (or your laptop) and don’t be late for class.

11.30am What’s one great thing about college? Long lunch breaks. Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends, catch up on homework, or do some laps at the McCoy Natatorium.

1.00pm Back to class, but not always in the classroom. Some classes involve hands-on experiences and you may take field trips on and off campus. 

3.00pm Your summer, your way. Sign up for the activities you want to do. Choose from sports, shopping, local attractions, museums, and more.

6.00pm Dinner time. Enjoy the unlimited portions at the state-of-the-art dining center. Be sure to save room for ice cream from Penn State's own Creamery!

8.00pm Outdoor movies. Bowling. Hiking. Golfing. You will never forget the memories you make with your friends at Penn State.

11.00pm Order a pizza, watch a movie, or play video games in the lounge. After a full day, it’s nice to relax with friends.
