How Do Courses Work? For each campus, you may build your own schedule (1 course in the morning, 1 course in the afternoon) or choose an Academy where the courses are packaged together for you (Academy also includes Inc. Young Entrepreneurs).

Arena Management

This course is devoted to teaching students how to supervise, market, finance, schedule and administer arenas and the events that they host. This course covers topics related to maintenance, daily operations, and contracting of the building. Students will gain the knowledge of the complex skills and duties required to manage a sports/entertainment arena.

Highlights 1. To learn the basic history of public assembly venues and the role they play within the community. 2. To analyze sales and booking strategies (including the role of business relationships) in the live entertainment industry. 3. To develop a basic understanding of arena management practices and principles. 4. To develop an understanding of the types of entertainment venues, components, and usages. 5. To develop facility management principles including life safety, basic marketing, public relations, customer service, and economics.

My name is Christine Maleske, but I prefer to be called Chrissy (she/hers) . I graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelors in Sport Management in 2014. Following graduation, I worked for Learfield Sporting Marketing's (now Learfield-IMG College) Penn State University branch and then moved to Florida, where I worked for a professional beach volleyball tour. In 2016, I moved to Germany where I completed my Master's at the German Sport University in Cologne, Germany in International Sport Development and Politics in 2018. After completing my Master's degree, I stayed in Germany and worked for the Agitos Foundation, the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Currently, I am now in my fourth year as a PhD Candidate in Sport Management. My research interests are in the area of sustainable development, human rights, and sporting events.
