Fashion Design

This course will teach students to develop their own designs with lessons in drawing, proportion and garment construction, while also exploring the world of fashion and fashion history. Hands-on projects enhance a robust curriculum, however, you do not need to be an artist or skilled sewer to take this class, as this class will teach you how to use the proper equipment and develop skills in design and creation.
Who Should Take This Course? Aspiring fashion designers.
Highlights Students will be able to identify historical fashion eras and influences. Students will be able to demonstrate safe and basic sewing machine skills. Students will identify and demonstrate correct usage and care of tools of clothing construction.
Courses & Academies **This course is not available as an afternoon option for Session 2** This class is one of our UCLA courses. Courses are single classes that are taken in the morning or afternoon. Students who take our courses select two courses to take during each session. Students will select a morning and afternoon course. If a student is attending a 6-week session, they'll select two courses per session 3-week session for a total of 4 courses during their 6 weeks. Generally, courses can not be combined with academies since academies meet both morning and afternoon.
