Developmental Positive Psychology
Why do some people seem happier than others? What impacts how we feel? What aspects contribute to how we overcome challenges? What makes us who we are? In this course we will utilize scientific literature to inform our understanding and look behind the scenes of how curiosity is transformed into research that guides our insight into who we are and how we came to be.

Shaden Powell is passionate about teaching and learning. She values and prioritizes the creation of a space that welcomes the exchange of ideas and perspectives and immensely enjoys being part of students’ exciting journey of learning fueled by abundant curiosity. Shaden’s teaching experience ranges from leading academic workshops focused on cognitive processes of learning, the intersection of anxiety related challenges and the infusion of mindfulness practices to facilitating mental health therapy groups addressing a wide range of mental health challenges in outpatient facilities, homeless shelters and multicultural centers to both children and adults as well as teaching and assisting in the teaching of university courses to undergraduate and graduate students in the following courses: Introduction to Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Foundations of Counseling, Child Language, Foundations of Developmental Psychology, and Psychological Methods and Statistics.
