Campus Life & Activities

Live with your friends on one of the world’s oldest campuses. Become more independent with the support of our amazing staff.

Live together in British comfort at Cambridge University

Our home is Orchard Court Residence Hall at Murray Edwards College, one of the 31 colleges that make up Cambridge University. You will be a part of a dynamic community of students and staff who live together in one residence hall.

Whether you’re watching a movie or working on a group project, it’s great to live with your friends. And if you have any questions, your resident counselor (RC) lives down the hall and is there for you 24/7.

Here's Our Set-Up:

  • Live in singles, doubles, or triple rooms with communal bathrooms.
  • Every room includes a bed, study desk, closet, sink, and WiFi.
  • Lounges, game rooms, laundry facilities, and Summer Discovery office are all in our residence hall.
  • Live a short walk from the Dome Dining Hall, academic buildings, and the city center of Cambridge.

Delicious All-You-Can-Eat Dining on Campus

Eat in the modern Dome Dining Hall. Enjoy two meals daily, and one on weekends, while on campus. Choose from daily options at the salad bar, pasta counter, dessert bar, and more. Are you a vegetarian? Do you have food allergies? Special diets are not a problem.

For lunch, explore restaurants, cafes, and sandwich shops in Cambridge or enjoy a riverside picnic. (Lunch is not included in tuition.)

YOur Health + Safety are our Primary Concern

Our RCs are committed to the support and supervision of Summer Discovery students. Daily sign-ins and room checks are mandated for your safety. You are free to walk around campus and the city of Cambridge (our ‘home area’) in small groups. If you have a question, RCs are on duty to help.

Not feeling well? Summer Discovery staff make all medical appointments, accompany students to medical facilities, obtain prescription medications, and notify parents after medical visits. Appointments are made with Huntingdon Road Surgery or Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
