Summer Discovery is excited to introduce this new Junior Discovery program for Summer 2022! Bryn Mawr's picturesque campus just outside of Philadelphia is the perfect location for middle school students to explore their academic interests while honing their leadership and communication skills. Students have numerous course options in tech, coding, engineering, robotics, and more!
This unique enrichment program goes beyond just academics and teaches life and career skills for the 21st century. Students in grades 6-8 take academic classes of their choice, while participating in hands- on leadership experiences and fun activities. Learning is everywhere — in the classroom, residence hall, dining hall, on-stage, on the athletic field, on trips and excursions, and in the daily interaction between like-minded peers, dynamic teachers, and resident counselors. Through caring supervision and positive mentoring this program promotes high school readiness, personal enrichment, recreation, sports, and fun.
In this brand-new series at Bryn Mawr, students will learn what it means to be part of a “team”. Whether it's a sports team, a school, a religious institution, or the workplace - most leaders begin to develop influential leadership skills when they learn how to work effectively in group settings. Leading teams involves managing different personalities, cultures, conflicting agendas, and varying skill levels. In this series, you'll participate in activities that help you learn to navigate team dynamics and harness your personal leadership style. All students will participate in a leadership workshop twice a week for one hour.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in many on and off campus activities throughout the program. All off-campus activities will be supervised and will be located within the home area around Bryn Mawr's campus or within the Philadelphia area.
