Summer Discovery UCLA is gearing up for an amazing weekend ahead following another week of classes for our 5 & 6 Weekers and new experiences for our 2 & 3 week students
Classroom events this week ranged from guest speakers in the Anderson Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports class and monologues and singing for our Acting and Auditioning students. Overall, students have commented that not only are they are learning a great deal of information in their classes, but they are also learning new ways of thinking from different perspectives.
On Monday and Tuesday, our 2 & 3 week students arrived on campus and got aquainted with UCLA and Westwood Village. We took tours of campus and met Joe Bruin (the famous bruin statue outside the UCLA bookstore and Student Union). We had orientation, toured our homearea Westwood and capped of the UCLA welcome with inflatables on the lawn. There were obsticale courses, beach volleyball and a dance circle.
Throughout the week students went to Rodeo Drive (home the most famous Beverly Hills Sign), soaked in the sun at Santa Monica Beach and indulged in Westwoods’s best cookies at Diddy Reese. We went on shopping sprees at the Grove, Centry City and the Third Street Promenade. Friday, we will explore a few of our neighbor universities with tours of Cal Tech, Pomona College and Pepperdine. We will cap off the week with games and more during our big Night at the Wooden Center event.
Stay tuned and check in Sunday to see what we were up too this weekend…. Spoiler Alert, it involves Disney.
