We are making the most of the heat wave here in Philly! Our Academy students have settled into their new home at Rodin College House and finished their orientation. Yesterday, Academy students attended their first day of classes with RC’s on hand to show them the way. After their afternoon classes, students participated in an orientation led by Lauren More, Administratrative Director of High School of Programs the University of Pennsylvania, and Miranda Chesson and Lauren Schwab, our UPenn Summer Discovery Co-Directors.
While the Academy students are settling in, there are plenty of activities for Academy and Pre-College students to take part in! They have been able to participate in trips to Reading Terminal Market, watch World Cup games, and Laser Tag. Tonight, RC’s are holding the first of our De-Stress Fests, where students will have an opportunity to take a moment to get to know their fellow residents, have some tea, and make stress balls in order to press pause and have some time to relax and unwind.
There are also some exciting events coming up this week. Our UPenn Prep Staff is arriving and we are preparing for the arrival of our UPenn Prep Students this weekend. Yesterday, the students attended a Phillies Baseball game and celebrated the Fourth of July! The students will also have an opportunity to participate in a Philly Bus Tour, a trip to the Museum of the American Revolution, and the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. This weekend, the students and staff will head to Ocean City, New Jersey to make the most of this summer heat. While it’s sure to be a hot week, we’re sure it’s going to be an exciting as well!
