Summer Discovery at University of San Diego is gearing up for an amazing weekend ahead following our first week of classes and activities! The week was full of events, activities, and a lot of learning as well. On Monday, our students participated in Orientation. This is where they got to learn more about the program, staff, and campus. They also got to take a tour of campus and visit their classrooms for the next 3 weeks. After orientation, we took a trip to Target for students to get any items they may need during their time on campus. We also offered students the option to participate in Movie Night, which was fun for a lot of our students and a great way to relax before the first day of classes tomorrow.
Tuesday was our first day of classes. Students and instructors were both excited to start class and begin learning new ideas and concepts this summer. After class, we hosted an all-group activity, Floor Wars. After that, student had the option to either go explore San Diego's Old Town Area, hike at Tecolote Canyon or go out to Frank's Lounge. Later in the evening, we gave the students the opportunity to participate in Dance Class and Trivia Night.
After class on Wednesday, we offered a wide variety of activities. Our first two activities were Reduce, Reuse, Replant, which was our activity focused on being more environmentally conscious, and No Stress Chess. After that we took a trip to Seaport Village, where students can explore the local area through restaurants and shopping. Later in the evening, we hosted a game of Mafia and Musical Jeopardy.
Today we are hosting an Origami activity, where students will be able to show their creative side and learn some new skills. We will also be taking a trip to Gaslamp to explore another local area in San Diego. Finally, we will end the night with a game of Whose Line Is It Anyway and an RC Meeting.
This weekend we have a wide variety of trips for students to attend and create great memories on, including La Jolla Cove, Backyard Sports, Little Italy, Mission Beach, and Balboa Park. Check back in on Monday to hear about what we did this weekend!
