We are already approaching our second weekend here at Summer Discovery at the University of San Diego! Our second week has been filled with lots of learning and activities. After class on Monday, students were able to create their own music through our Music Club. We then finished off our game of Floor Wars with our final relay. After dinner, we took our students on a trip to Target and In-N-Out Burger. Later in the evening we hosted Movie Night Monday, which our students really enjoyed.
On Tuesday, we hosted Tie Dye Tuesday. Students were able to dye t-shirts, socks, or any other item they wanted, and students really had a great time being creative. We also took our students to Fashion Valley, USD's Frank's Lounge, and hosted our Summer Discovery Talent Show. Students enjoyed their trip to Frank's Lounge where they were able to play pool or video games. Our students also enjoyed showing their unique selves and cheering on their peers in our talent show!
On Wednesday, we had a De-Stress Fest, where we had Jon's Dogs come to campus and teach our students new coping skills to deal with stress in their lives. We then hosted a painting event, where students were able to show off their creative side. Later in the evening we offered shuttles to San Diego's Old Town, where students were able to grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant or do some shopping. Back on campus, we hosted a Blacklight Dance Party and another meeting of Music Club.
Today we are hosting a basketball game between our students and staff. Who do you think will win? Our vote is on the students! We will also be hosting a game of Musical Chairs. After dinner, we will be hosting a game of Mini Golf, a Mario Kart competition, an Escape Room, and a Zumba Class.
This weekend we will be hosting a variety of activities. Some of the activities we are doing will be a trip to Coronado, a Fireworks Display, a trip to Cabrillo and Liberty Station, a beach day at La Jolla Shores, a trip to the Zoo, and going to the San Diego Padres Game. We are very excited for the weekend to come, and we look forward to keeping you updated with more news and pictures! Stay tuned!
