In August, Summer Discovery, Discovery Internships and Jr. Discovery ended another successful summer….its 52nd one, in fact! We loved having over 3,400 students representing 44 U.S. states and nearly 60 countries spread out over our 14 campuses.
It’s no wonder students like Adam, Samara, Caroline, Halle, Reid, Raquel, and Monroe had such transformative summers. Here’s a special shout-out to Taibah from Kuwait, who endured a 25-hour flight to Los Angeles, where she had a life-changing summer experience. (Read their inspiring posts and see for yourself)
Meanwhile, back in Roslyn, New York, the Summer Discovery team took well-deserved vacations while reflecting on the great summer and all the new friends made. Soon after, days grew shorter and we all went into Autumn mode, where thoughts turn to sweaters, apples, and good times with friends and family.
“In Autumn, I love everything pumpkin,” said Halle, Discovery Internship Coordinator. “As the leaves start to change I love getting a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, baking pumpkin bread, and lighting a pumpkin spice candle,” she added.
Speaking of pumpkins, Miranda, Associate Director at UPenn, loves to go pumpkin picking and wine tasting, thanks to the proximity to the Long Island farms and vineyards. On the other hand, Scott, Discovery Internship Coordinator, loves that it’s football season again, especially college football. “Whether it’s watching the game on TV with friends in Hoboken, or taking trips to Penn State and tailgating, the atmosphere is just great. I also love this time of year to hike in New Jersey or New York state.”
“The Fall is my favorite time of year as the weather is perfect to be outside all day. I love driving out east, to the Hamptons, when there is less traffic. We stop at farms for apples, pumpkins, and pies,” said Jenn, Director of UT Austin, who knows a thing or two about hot weather from many summers in Texas!
It might seem early to start thinking about next summer, but in this hyper speed world, it’s always a good time to plan ahead and apply for an amazing summer experience like those our alums wrote about. Contact us today for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
