Summer Discovery at Haverford College is gearing up for an amazing weekend ahead following our first week of classes and activities! The week was full of events, activities, and a lot of learning as well. On Monday, we welcomed our students to campus for arrival day. After students arrived at campus, we hosted Ice Breakers, Campus Tours, RC Meetings, a trip to CVS, and Trivia.
On Tuesday, our students participated in Orientation. This is where they got to learn more about the program, staff, and campus. They also got to take a tour of campus and visit their classrooms for the next 2 weeks. After Orientation, students got a tour of the Home Area. Later in the day we hosted a wide variety of activities for students to choose from, including: Writing Club, Basketball and CrossFit. We ended our night with RC Outings, where our staff created special activities for their student groups to help get to know each other and get ready for a great summer together! The night ended with a viewing of Game 6 of the NBA Finals, where the Bucks beat the Suns, and Spa Night.
Wednesday was our first day of classes. Students and instructors were both excited to start class and begin learning new ideas and concepts this summer. After class we hosted a fun game of soccer and reading club. We then hosted boot camp with a local fitness trainer. We also hosted Tie Dye and Bracelet Making.
After class today, we will be offering boot camp and a trip to Suburban Square, where students can explore local restaurants and do some shopping. After dinner, we will host a Paint Night and a fun game of Charades. Today we will be hosting our Guest Entrepreneurship Speaker, who is most notably famous for working with SD Alum and TikTok Famous, Charli D'Amelio, Drew Kevitch. She is super excited to meet our students and our students are excited to meet her!
This weekend we have a wide variety of activities for students to attend and create great memories on, including a Spoken Word Event, Boot Camp, Spoke Ball, Water Balloons, Capture the Flag, Suburban Square, and a trip to Philadelphia. Check back in on Monday to hear about what we did this weekend!
