Summer Discovery at Haverford College is gearing up for an amazing weekend after two more productive days of classes! This week our students had the opportunity to interact with each other and get acclimated to the campus. They also were able to get to know their professors both in and outside of the classroom.
Every day after classes, students had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of fun activities. On Tuesday, Summer Discovery's orientation was held, where Administration and Resident Counselors went into further detail on what the students can expect this summer and gave students a tour of the home area. Students then got the option to participate in Football, Spikeball, and Bracelet Making. In the evening, students had a great time bonding with their RC groups and preparing for their first day of classes.
Wednesday was our first day of classes! After class, students got to play soccer or participate in a scavengar hunt around campus. After dinner, we hosted a friendly game of volleyball and a paint night. We checked in with our Director Lesley and asked her what she is most looking forward to this summer. Here is what she had to say:
"I am most looking forward to getting to spend the summer with students at a different educational setting and watching them try things they never would have in the past. I am also looking forward to them connecting with other students from across the country."
We also checked in with our Campus Specialist Kelsey to ask her about how class is going. Here is what she had to say:
"It's been great hearing about the class experiences from the students! I spoke with a student who took a career test in their class and felt even better about their plans for college."
Today after a great day of class, students will get to participate in a wide variety of activities. We are hosting a TikTok challenge, a friendly game of basketball, a board game night, and embroidery night. For tomorrow, students will get to participate in yoga, trivia, and a movie night. This weekend will be full of fun activities, some activities will be henna tattoos, basketball, an escape room, and so much more. Check in with us on Monday to see what we did!
