It’s hard to believe we are already starting our second and final week here at Summer Discovery at Haverford College! The students have called Barclay Hall and Leeds Hall home for one week now, and there is a pervasive sense of everyone feeling comfortable and settled. This weekend, we got the students out of the dorms as our schedules were jam packed with exciting activities from morning until evening.
After class on Friday, students had the opportunity to participate in a Spoken Word/Writing Club or participate in a fun game of Spikeball. After dinner we hosted a Boot Camp with a local personal trainer. We then hosted a live viewing of the Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony, followed by a Glow Night Party.
On Saturday, we finished our final classes of the week and then we jumped right into our busy weekend schedule. We hosted another Boot Camp opportunity. We also hosted a game of kickball. After dinner, students joined us for a game of Water Balloons and Capture the Flag. We then ended the night with a Chess Tournament and Karaoke Night.
Yesterday, we traveled as a group to Philadelphia. Students enjoyed getting to explore the "City of Brotherly Love." Students were able to climb the famous Rocky Steps, take pictures by the Love Sign and experience local favorites! After returning to campus, students were able to participate in Movie Night and play Lawn Games.
This week is our final week of class. This week students will be able to participate in a wide variety of activities, such as: Boot Camp, CrossFit, Sand Art, Suburban Square, Cookie Decorating, Silent Disco, and much more! Overall, we had an amazing weekend, and we can’t wait to jump right into our final week and see what other excitement lies in store. Thank you for keeping up with our adventures, we look forward to updating you later in the week!
