This weekend was full of adventure! It started off as a calm night at the movies, ended with adrenaline-inducing rollercoasters, and had a ski mountain in the middle! On Friday night, students had their choice of four different movies: a cartoon, a thriller, an action film & a scary film. After brunch on campus, our buses drove us up to Breckenridge, a ski resort with an adventure park for the summer season. The gondola brought us to an elevation of almost 13,000 feet, where students had choices to ride an alpine slide and a single rider coaster, play mini golf, go rock climbing, participate in a ropes course, bounce on bungee trampolines, take a scenic ski lift even higher, and navigate a life-size maze! The weather was as beautiful as the views!
On Sunday we did not have the same luck with the weather, but the rain provided us with short lines at Elitch Gardens! Students conquered dozens of rides, won prizes, and ate lots of treats. When the thunderstorms proved too much, we headed back to Boulder to enjoy a night of soccer, activities at the Rec Center, and an ice cream social to celebrate National Ice Cream Day!
STEM Academy students are looking forward to their last week of classes so that they can complete their final projects for the campus expo on Thursday! Our Summer Discovery staff cannot wait for everything we have planned to end the program! Time sure does fly!
