After a successful arrival day, our Penn Summer Discovery family has reached over 500 students! The Penn Prep students have completed their orientation process and have begun taking part in the many activities offered.
Earlier this week, the students were able to sample Abner’s Cheesesteaks where they could experience a Philadelphia staple local to our own campus. On Monday, students and staff alike took part in a karaoke night full of incredible talents, great laughs, and of course, Philly centered songs such as “Eye of the Tiger” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme song. Yesterday, students had an opportunity to visit the Franklin Institute, a science based museum where students can walk through a giant, anatomically correct, heart. The students were also able to tour Eastern State Penitentiary, the world’s first true penitentiary that utilized solitary confinement and once housed Al Capone!
In the coming weeks, the students will be able to continue keep up with the World Cup through RC hosted viewings. We are all so excited to see the final game on Sunday! While many students are cheering for France, there are plenty who are thrilled to root for the small but mighty Croatia! This weekend, the students will take part in a large group trip to Hershey Park for a day filled with rollercoasters, water parks, and, of course, plenty of chocolate!
