Summer Discovery Michigan: We Made it Through our First weekend!
After a great 4th of July, students returned to their daily classes on Friday morning. That afternoon we held activities such as Spikeball, Basketball tournaments and a trip to Putterz Mini Golf. On Friday night, students had a rolling time at Skating Station roller rink. Saturday kicked off with three exciting trip options for students to choose from. They had the opportunity to take a step back into the past at The Henry Ford Museum, experience a sweet adventure at Spicer Orchard Berry Picking, or enjoy a summer day of fun at Dave & Buster’s. We then capped Saturday night off with an ALL Group trip to Movies at the RAVE where students got to choose between Spiderman, Men in Black, or Toy Story 4. Sunday wrapped up the weekend with an exciting baseball game between the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox who ended up taking home the win, with a score of 6-3. For those students who did not attend the game, we offered a fun trip to Zap Zone Laser Tag. The night ended with all SD students gathering in the front yard of Mosher- Jordan Residence Hall to participate in a game called “Speed Friending,” an interactive activity where students get the chance to meet and socialize with every student in the program, resulting in new friendships and connections being made!
Coming up for this week, we will be offering students three opportunities to visit the Big House, University of Michigan’s football stadium, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. There will also be activities such as Ice Skating, Canoeing, hiking, a trip to Cedar Point and a Live Hypnosis Show! We are looking forward to diving back into classes this week. Please keep checking in for more pictures and updates to come, and don’t forget to follow our blog for access to the Daily Wolverine!
