Michigan: The First Week was a Super Success!

Michigan: The First Week was a Super Success!

Summer Discovery Michigan is gearing up for an amazing weekend after one more productive day of classes! This week our students had the opportunity to interact with each another and their professors both in and outside of the classroom. Our EAT Ann Arbor class got to experience some delicious Greek, Italian, Jewish and American dishes. In addition, the Sociology and Society course took a field trip to the University Of Michigan Museum Of Art.

Every day after classes, students had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of fun activities. On Monday, students participated in basketball and tennis tournaments where students met and competed against each other; a trip to Pinball Pete’s Arcade where students displayed their different levels of skill; and visited and tasted the various ice cream flavors at the Michigan Creamery. Summer Discovery’s Program Orientation was also held on Monday where Administration and Resident Counselors went into further detail on what the students can expect this summer.

On Tuesday students were able to tour one of the largest football stadiums in the country right here on the campus of University of Michigan; while other students participated in activities that included the Clueless Escape Room, AirTime Trampoline Park, and Whirly Ball. Some students even stayed back on campus to make Tie-Dye shirts! For those who wanted to eat dinner out in town, students got to experience the infamous Zingerman’s Deli.

On Wednesday, we held Soccer and Ping Pong tournaments with the students and later that day all students took a trip to the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball game that ended with an awesome fireworks show. On Thursday, students and residential counselors went to the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall; while another group went to Zap Zone Arcade that included Indoor Glo-Golf and Laser Tag. The night capped off with Karaoke and Glow in the Dark Frisbee.

For tomorrow, July 5th, 2019 the students will have a chance to sign up for Spikeball, Putterz Golf and another basketball tournament after class. The night will include fun at Roller Skating. This weekend will be full of trips. Tune in Monday for a recap.
