The final weekend for our 3-week students is in the books, and what a weekend it was!
On Friday, students attended classes since we did not have class on the 4th of July. It is hard to believe our students only have 4 days left of classes for the 3-week session. Friday afternoon had various activities from a 7 versus 7 football game, Bingo, and Putterz Golf (putt-putt). Friday evening ended with an all group outing to Skatin Station for some skating and pizza. Students who did not want to skate could play pool, arcade games, or just hang out. It was a good time all around!
Saturday was an amazing day weather-wise, perfect for an all-group trip to Silver Lake Recreation Area in Pinckney, MI. While the sun shone, students splashed around in the water, tossed around a football, dove for volleyballs on the beach, read books and listened to music, or simply worked on their summer tan. It was a memorable day of fun and games spent with friends in a beautiful location. After regrouping back on campus for dinner, the entire group travelled to a local bowling alley for the evening. Students took their best shots at the pins, with several scoring well above the 100 mark (the highest score was 220!)
Sunday offered a wide spread of activities for students, but also gave the option to stay on campus to relax, study, and prepare for the week ahead. At the Detroit Tigers game, some students munched on ballpark treats and sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” while the Tigers played the Texas Rangers. The Rangers beat out the Tigers with a final score of 3-0. Other students went ice skating on Sunday and enjoyed seeing who could stay on their feet the longest! Sunday night left time for students to regroup before returning to classes, and then squeeze in some arcade games at Pinball Pete’s or play in a poker tournament.
Sadly, this week will be our last few days with our 3-week students. We have a busy week ahead filled with classes, activities, and important information sessions regarding departure and the trip to Chicago for UCLA-combo students and our 5-week program students. We can’t wait to make the most of this week, and we will certainly be posting updates and pictures along the way! Thanks for reading!
