It’s a heatwave! With record high temperatures, London has truly brought the heat this week. Luckily, our students are keeping cool with lots of water, gelato, and trips to the pool. The heat hasn’t stopped us from taking advantage of all London has to offer.
On Monday, our business students started classes. Due to a problem with the air conditioner in their classroom, they were moved to a different location. Their new space is located on trendy Fashion Street and has an awesome rooftop terrace. They spent their first day getting registered and having their first lecture. In the evening, RC groups participated in different activities. Brittany’s group headed to Covent Garden to get greek food for dinner and take in the amazing street performers. Jordan’s group was flying high on a trip to the trampoline park at the O2 arena. Sarah’s group stayed in for a relaxing picnic and spa night. Lawerence’s group grabbed dinner at TGIFridays in the mall. Megan’s group got dinner in Camden Market and then watched the sunset from Primrose Hill.
Business students had an exciting day on Tuesday. A new Sherlock Holmes film was shooting down the street from their class. Students were able to peak in at Fournier Street dressed up like Victorian England. Unfortunately, no got a glimpse of Millie Bobby Brown or Henry Cavill who were filming there. In the afternoon, the business students went to the Museum of the Bank of England. They were able to learn about the history of the British pound and hold a real gold brick. It was a fun afternoon to supplement their studies of business and economies. There were lots of options on Tuesday evening- a trip to Shake Shack, time at the gym, or exploring at Harrods and Hyde Park. It was a great chance for our new group to start bonding and seeing new parts of London.
Wednesday was another day of internships and classes. After work, our interns attended a career panel to hear from a variety of professionals about their stories and to get their advice. Our business students took a walk around the Tower Hill area. They enjoyed taking pictures outside of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. It was a beautiful evening to enjoy some of London’s most iconic monuments.
A trip to the Design Museum was on the Thursday schedule for our business students. They were able to take part in a workshop on front end design and practice making their own app. They also were able to take in some of the Design Museums’s current exhibitions, one on Stanley Kubrick’s films and one on the architect Sir David Adjaye. These provided unique perspectives on creativity, innovation, and storytelling. The evening provided students a chance to visit Trafalgar Square and get some gelato. Due to the heat, most students hung out nearby- going to the gym, grabbing dinner in the home area, or trying bubble tea.
Luckily, the heat wave is passing and we’ll be back to normal temperatures tomorrow. It’s just in time for another exciting weekend of West End musical and day trips around the UK.
