Samara, Caroline, and Halle are from Chicago and will be sophomores in high school this coming fall. They particpated in the Summer Discovery @ UCLA 3 week program. Here's the final post from their blog:
Today is the day that we have all been dreading. All of us have parted ways and said our goodbyes. It seems like it was only yesterday when I arrived to UCLA with nerves and excitement, not knowing what to expect. After these last three weeks, I can confidently say that this program has surpassed my expectations. Saying goodbye to all of my new international friends made me realize how special and unique of an opportunity I got from Summer Discovery. I was able to venture out of my comfort zone by meeting people from all over the world. Not only was this an extremely fun experience, but it was an educational one for me as well. I learned so much about myself and my interests. This program has opened my eyes to college life and I feel it has prepared me well for my future. UCLA's campus is beautiful, safe, and posses a strong sense of community, making me feel at home.
I don't think I could have chosen a better program to explore LA. I enjoyed my class, campus, friends, staff, food and overall experience. This blog does not nearly capture all the essence and greatness of Summer Discovery. We've made so many memories that we will forever remember. I believe that the independence we have been given has helped to prepare us to be individuals for the rest of our lives. I would recommend this program to anyone and everyone and I am so thankful for the summer that it has given me.
