A Weekend Full of Colorado!
Our CU Boulder students had such an awesome weekend exploring Colorado! On Friday night, we went to Fat Cats, a local amusement center. Bowling, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf, arcade games and a laser maze provided a fun-filled night. After a delicious brunch in our dining hall, we loaded onto buses and traveled north to Rocky Mountain National Park with one group and south to Breckenridge with the rest of the students. The Rocky Mountain hiking trails covered a gorgeous section of the 415 square-mile park. The scenic route passed by Bear Lake and Dream Lake, ending at the picturesque Emerald Lake. Our Breckenridge group went to the famous ski resort, which transforms into an adventure park during the summer season. A gondola brought us to an elevation of almost 13,000 feet, where students could ride an alpine slide and a single rider coaster, play mini golf, go rock climbing, participate in a ropes course, bounce on bungee trampolines, take a scenic ski lift even higher, and solve a human maze. The weather was just as beautiful as the views!
Sunday’s activities made for even more enjoyable memories. Students were able to pick between a day in Denver or Elitch Gardens. In Denver, we visited the Denver Zoo, where we saw giraffes, elephants, seals, and so many other animals, and even got to feed some birds! Following the zoo, students explored downtown Denver’s 16th Street Mall. For students who chose to spend the day at Elitch Gardens, we rode roller coasters, thrill rides and water rides. After tonight’s “Paint & Snack” activity, students began settling into the idea of starting back in classes tomorrow. They are also looking forward to the many activities we have planned for Week 2. Be sure to check back here on Friday morning to hear all about it!
