CU Boulder Blog & Daily- July 12

Our second week has been a blast!

On Monday, students jumped back into their studies and ended their hard day’s work with choices of a hike at Red Rocks, a night swim, and Spider-Man at the cinema.

On Tuesday we brought back the 60’s with tie-dye shirt-making after class. In the evening, students shopped till they dropped at the 29th St. Mall, played basketball, and went bowling at the on-campus bowling alley!

Collegewise on Wednesday enlightened students about the college application process, tests, course work, and applications. The presenter was blown away by the questions and conversation raised by our students. We know their futures are bright! Cookie decorating, a hike at Eldorado Canyon, Spa night and a Fortnight tournament took up the rest of the evening.

Thursday concluded the classes for the academy students participating in our first session. Their experiments and presentations were on display during the Science Discovery Student Expo. We were impressed by robots, CPR/AED simulations, nerve control machines, a cold water reaction experiment and DNA extraction, just to name a few of the student samples.

Since all good things must come to an end, we concluded the first session with dinner at Dave & Busters followed by endless arcade games. Before our final goodnight, students viewed a slideshow of pictures celebrating all of the memories we have made these past two weeks.

Although we are sad to see the first session students head home, our 4 week students are looking forward to a fun day on Saturday, and they will greet our new group of students on Sunday! Do not forget to check back in on Monday!
