Our business students and interns truly had a treat this weekend. It kicked off with a performance of Aladdin on the West End. Everyone loved the talented genie who left us all laughing, clapping, and smiling. The costumes, music, and special effects were truly unforgettable.
Saturday involved three different trips that students could sign up for: Oxford, Windsor, or Changing of the Guards. The Oxford group had fun exploring the enchanting city, visiting cafes and colleges, and buying the infamous Oxford sweatshirt. Another group headed Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry and Megan Markle were recently married. They were able to visit St. George's Chapel where the wedding took place, as well as the State Apartments and various parts of the castle grounds. The flag was flying during their visit, meaning that Queen Elizabeth II was at the castle for the weekend! A third group visited Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace and then spent the afternoon in funky Camden Market. After a busy day of travel, all Summer Discovery London students took a trip on the iconic London Eye. They were able to get a beautiful birds eye view of London. There was lots of music, dancing, and selfies to be had by all! Afterwards, they were able to wander around South Bank and the Jubilee Gardens as the sun set.
It was another day of adventure on Sunday. One group took a trip to Brighton. Brighton is a seaside town where students enjoyed wandering the beach and visiting the rides on the pier. They also visited a number of vintage shops and cute cafes in the winding streets known as "The Lanes." While it was windy, the sun was shining, making for perfect seaside day. Another group visited Cambridge where they feasted at high tea and explored the town. One other group stayed in London to go to the Emirites Cup. It's a pre-season soccer double header. The first match was mens with Arsenal v. Lyon and the second was womens with Arsenal v. Bayern. Arsenal lost both matches, but much fun was had by all students attending. Students relaxed in the evening: grabbing dinner with friends at Westfield Stratford City mall, making friendship bracelets, and hanging out in our accomodation.
It's hard to believe we are beginning our last week in London. There have been so many happy memories so far, we can't believe it's almost over!
