A Very British Weekend!

Our weekend began full of excitement! Student went Friday night to see Mamma Mia! on the West End. The show was spectacular, full of amazing choreography and catchy ABBA songs. The best part was at the end, the cast did an encore singing “Mamma Mia,” “Dancing Queen,” and “Waterloo” while the audience sang along and danced from their seat. It was truly so much fun.

Saturday, students got to choose one of three trips. One group headed to the city of spires- Oxford. They had the opportunity to see some of the Harry Potter filming sites at Christchurch College, visit the famous Covered Market, and hang out in cafes and bookstores on winding little streets. Another group headed to Windsor Castle. They spent the afternoon exploring the elegant castle and touring the quaint town around it. Our RC Jordan made a great video of their day! The third group stayed in London. They spent the morning taking in the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace and the afternoon checking out the funky market scene in Camden. Each group had a great time and made the most of their Saturday. When they returned, they relaxed with Spa Night and embraced soothing face masks.

There were two options for trips on Sunday: Cambridge and Brighton. The Cambridge group dove right into activities when they arrived. One group embraced the challenges of punting, a rowing traditional gondola-style boat, along the River Cam. There were some struggles and mishaps, but everyone had a lot of fun and no one fell into the water! Another group participated in a traditional English afternoon tea. They feasted on finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream & jam, and a variety of pastries alongside their tea. After activities, everyone was able to wander through the town and visit the beautiful and historical colleges. The Brighton group had a great time checking out the seaside city, visiting the pier and the charming town!

We are all exhausted from such a fun and exciting weekend of day trips and friendship. But tomorrow is another day of internships, classes, and perhaps a trip to Hyde Park. We can’t believe it’s only been one week and we all cannot wait to see what adventures the next three weeks hold!
