Residential tuition includes: Tuition and program fees, academic and enrichment programs, use of libraries and other facilities, housing, two meals daily Monday through Friday and Sunday when on campus (no meals Saturday), recreation pass (for students ages 16 and above), weekday and weekend activities, and trips and excursions per catalog.

Not included: Airfare, airport transfers (available for $40 each way), books and classroom materials, course supplements, meals eaten off campus, medical expenses, laundry, linens, blanket and pillow, souvenirs, and personal spending money (approximately $100-$150 per week suggested).

6-Week Curricula

Students select their college credit courses in consultation with the academic staff upon acceptance to the program.  Enrollment is subject to the approval of the program director and registration in  a desired course is not guaranteed.  Students will be graded and may request an official transcript after the completion of the program.

4-Week Curricula

The PENN Summer Academies include guided laboratory work, museum visits, field trips, guest lectures, and discussion groups, all taught by PENN scientists, faculty, and outside experts.  Although the Academies are non-credit, they are exceptionally rigorous, with classes and labs that meet every morning and afternoon, Monday-Friday.  There is additional work assigned for evenings and weekends taht includes reading, library and internet research, and the preparation of written or oral reports.  Due to the vigorous academic schedule of each academy, students may not be able to participate in some afternoon and evening extracurricular activities.

Evaluations

The 4-week Academies are not graded.  Students are given practical, individual feedback on their efforts throughout the program.  Upon successful completion of the program, each student can request an individual letter of evaluation.
