Around the Campus, Around the Town  The UCLA campus is adjacent to Westwood Village, one of America’s best college towns. The village of 30,000 boasts 50 restaurants, ice-cream and yogurt cafes galore, and lots of movie theatres. Westwood has essentially replaced Hollywood for prominent movie openings and celebrity sightings. In addition, the entertainment capital of the world is at our doorstep, with the best in concerts, theater, museums, theme parks, and television and movie studios. UCLA is also close to a myriad of outdoor pursuits including America’s greatest beaches, Santa Monica Mountains, and the best in boogie-boarding and surfing.

Weekend Road Trips

• Fun in the sun Weekends Beach Bus to Santa Monica, Manhattan and Huntington beaches. Surf’s up!
• Disneyland or Six Flags Magic Mountain Unlimited rides and fun at two of the world’s best theme parks. Enjoy rollercoasters, thrill rides, kiddie rides, and food of all nations.
• Universal Studios/Universal City Walk Still the world’s largest television and movie studio. Thrill to Jurassic Park - “The Ride”.  Also enjoy City Walk with dozens of exciting shops , restaurants, clubs, movie theaters, attractions and more.
• Hurricane Harbor Water Adventure Park with dozens of rides and attractions.

Santa Barbara Excursion (6 & 3 Week Session 1 programs only)

Enjoy one of California’s most scenic oceanfront locations. In Santa Barbara we will visit the remarkable oceanfront UCSB campus and Santa Barbara’s famous Downtown State Street.

Sunset Bonfire & S’mores

It’s our farewell Pacific Ocean beach party as we toast marshmallows, make s’mores and watch our final sunset, California style.

• Rock Concerts Galore (Transportation provided, tickets additional)-Recent shows include Alycia Keyes, Korn, Dave Matthews, Sting, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith and the Allman Bros.
• TV Tapings Galore-Recent shows include Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, Best Damn Sports Show, Deal or No Deal, Family Feud.

Optional Excursions

Note: Students who do not sign up for the optional excursions are provided a full weekend program of activities and excursions in the Los Angeles area at no additional charge.

Viva Las Vegas Weekend (3 days / 2 nights - 6 week program only)

Our deluxe chartered motor coach departs from campus to the city of million lights. We"ll see the dancing fountains at the Bellagio, the canals at The Venetian, and catch the volcanic explosion at the Mirage. We check out M&M Chocolate World, enjoy the outrageous Blue Man Group show at the Venetian Hotel and top it off with thrills on the New York, New York Manhattan Express or Buffalo Bill's Desperado roller coaster.

Fee: $650  Includes all activities and admissions per itinerary, Meals, motor coach transportation, and air conditioned residence hall accommodations with semi-private bathrooms.

• By attending the Las Vegas weekend, students miss a trip to either Six Flags Magic Mountain or Santa Barbara

* Excursion fees may not be transferred to another student and are non-refundable after May 1st.

• Games Night at the Wooden Center Rock all night with basketball, dance classes, Henna tatoos, rock climbing and a great DJ.

• UCLA Film and Television Archive Second in size only to the Library of Congress.
• Murphy Sculpture Garden & Wight Art Gallery Great places to “hang” amidst over 31,000 works by the masters including Picasso, Matisse and other masters.
• Summer Discovery “Lack of Talent and Talent Show”, Las Vegas Night, Karoke, and Pizza Night

• Thomas Bradley International Student Center This new campus commons, food court and entertainment complex is dedicated to easing the transition of international students to American college life. Open to all students from around the world and the USA.
