Around Campus, Around Town

The Northeastern campus is located on the famous Avenue of the Arts, home to many of Boston’s top cultural institutions, great restaurants and trendy shops. Northeastern’s central location puts students close to all that Boston has to offer. Summer Discovery students are within walking distance to famous Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, stylish Newbury Street, the Prudential Center, and more.

Boston is home to over 80 colleges, a vibrant, high-energy mix of educational and social activity. You’ll run out of summer before you run out of Boston! Strategically located in the heart of New England, Boston is just a short distance to such beautiful destinations as Cape Cod and New Hampshire beaches.

Sunday Night at the Movies Being in the heart of Boston allows lots of choices for first run flicks within blocks of campus.

Video and DVD Center In-house nightly video movie features.

Curry Student Center The “living room” of the Northeastern campus, the Curry Student Center is the crossroads for student life. It is home to a food court, game room, bookstore, information center, email center, and a late-night nightclub with big-screen TV and café.

Snell Library, Computer Lab and Cafe Northeastern’s huge, impressive library is the largest college library in Boston.

The Boston Red Sox at Legendary Fenway Park

Boston, and all of New England, is part of the Red Sox Nation. In 2004, Boston’s beloved team, after an 86 year drought, won the World Series championship, and did it again in 2007! We’ll watch a game at Fenway Park, a baseball stadium as beloved as its home team. Very limited ticket availability.

Boston Amphibious Duck Tours

An experience like no other, the Boston Duck Tour is a narrated, historical tour of Boston in authentic WWII amphibious vehicles that travel on land through the streets of Boston and into the Charles River. When was the last time you were driven into a river? The tour offers breathtaking views of the Boston skyline.

Six Flags New England Amusement Park

With over 150 rides, shows and attractions and 10 world class coasters, Six Flags is New England’s biggest and best theme park. We’ll spend a day of unlimited fun on the coasters, on the rides and at the shows.

Basketball Hall of Fame

Whether or not you’re a basketball fan, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts is a blast. In addition to a hands-on history of the game, including all the legends from Larry Bird to Michael Jordan, the museum has interactive activities that let you anchor a sportscast, make your favorite call, or shoot, rebound and pass against the best.

Hampton Beach

This beautiful white sand beach, just over the New Hampshire border beckons us with unlimited sunshine, swimming and surf.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace A restored early American marketplace, the historic Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are home to more than 100 shops and eateries.

Salem Massachusetts This beautiful, fascinating and charming town was the home of the notorious Salem Witch Trials.

The Freedom Trail Sixteen historical sites, all significant in our country’s early struggle for freedom, are connected by a two and half mile red brick path that not only links one place to another but the past to the present. Among the highlights are the Boston Common, site of the Boston Massacre and the Paul Revere House.

John F. Kennedy Library and Museum Dedicated to the memory of our nation’s 35th president.

Skywalk Observatory at Prudential Center’s 50th Floor Enjoy 360° panoramic views from one of Boston’s tallest and most famous buildings.

Shop ‘til You Drop Charming Newbury Street and The Shops at Prudential Center - hundreds of stores within walking distance from campus. Also nearby is the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, an upscale outlet shopping center in an open-air setting with more than 170 shops.

Harvard Yard Lined with ivy-covered brick buildings and trees, “The Yard” is the center of the New World’s oldest and most prestigious university.

Optional Excursion

Note: Students who do not sign up for the optional excursion are provided a full weekend program of activities and excursions in the Boston area at no additional charge.

The Big Apple New York City Excursion (3 days/2 nights)

We depart by charter motor coach to the Big Apple, one of the biggest, busiest and most exciting cities in the world. We leave Northeastern early Friday morning in order to maximize our time in “the city that never sleeps.” Daytime highlights include a Circle Line tour of lower Manhattan past the Statue of Liberty, visit the stars at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Times Square, South Street Seaport, Central Park and Strawberry Fields, New York University (NYU) and strolling and shopping in Greenwich Village. Evening highlights include dinner at a trendy NY restaurant, Mulberry Street in Little Italy, a show Off-Broadway, the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), and a magnificent evening panoramic view from atop the famous Empire State Building.
