These classes are taught by the renowned teachers of the Enforex Spanish Language Institute each weekday morning. Enforex, under the academic direction of Dr. Maria Jose Gelabert, has 17 language institutes throughout Spain and Latin America. Enforex classrooms are a 10-minute walk from our residences in Barcelona.
Enforex has more than 15 years of teaching Spanish to students and has provided Spanish language programs in Spain for many prestigious American universities including UC Berkeley and the University of North Carolina. All Enforex schools use the same syllabus and teaching methods allowing students to seamlessly combine their Spanish language learning experience in Barcelona. Spanish Language courses are taught at 6 different levels. Students are tested the first day to determine which level class they enter.
Optional College Credit: Students may choose to take the Intensive Spanish Language course for credit or not for credit. The decision must be made prior to June 1, and cannot be changed. The workload/assignments are exactly the same whether a student takes the Intensive Spanish Language course for credit or not. Most students choose the credit option. There is an additional fee of $395 for a class taken for credit. Credit may be conferred by the Marist College. The decision to accept/not accept credits rests solely with the college/ university you eventually attend. Students earn 3 college credits upon successful completion (a grade of C+ or better) of the course.
Spanish Cultural Immersion Enrichment Classes, Community Service and SAT Preparation Enrichment classes explore the discovery of Spanish culture, key to a successful Spanish language learning experience. We’ll use Barcelona and its environs as our extended classroom. Most classes are small, informal and personal — encouraging constant student/teacher interaction. Please note: These classes will meet for 3 weeks in Barcelona only. Afternoons in Madrid will be spent at different cultural and fun activities each day.
The Spanish Language Immersion and Spanish Cultural Immersion enrichment classes are taught by native Spanish instructors holding degrees in Spanish Linguistics and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Most have Master’s degrees and doctorates in Spanish.
College credit courses are graded on the traditional letter system of A, B, C, D and F. Students completing the Intensive Spanish Language course will receive the Enforex diploma, which certifies the type of course, the amount of hours studied and the level of proficiency achieved. Official transcripts are available for college credit classes by request for future use. Spanish Cultural Immersion enrichment classes are graded Pass, No Pass.
