At the current time, Summer discovery at Emerson (4-week enrichment program and 2 week business institute) is open only to U.S. citizens. However, College Discovery and Discovery Internships are open to citizens of all countries.
Non-credit enrichment classes are offered in cooperation with Emerson College’s Department of Professional Studies and Special Projects. These classes are designed around the vast resources available at Emerson and Boston. Classes meet Monday-Thursday for 2 hours, 9:30-11:30am or 1:00-3:00pm. Courses require outside-of-class preparation, and most courses have papers, mid-terms and/or finals. In addition, students attend our innovative evening series, “Preparing for College and Life Workshops” which meet 1-2 evenings per week.
Summer Discovery classes are designed around Emerson’s vast strengths and resources. Most classes are small, informal and personal - encouraging student/teacher interaction. Students have a choice of 2 different curricula, outlined to the right. Curriculum A features a wide variety of courses from several diciplines including the visual and performing arts, writing, history, politcal science, business, fashion, SAT preparation and DiscoveryWorks community service.
Summer Discovery and Emerson College are pleased to collaborate to offer an intensive 2 week Boston Business & Marketing Institute (Curriculum B) that focuses on Business, Management, Marketing, and Finance. The program includes classroom sessions, site visits to Boston businesses, and guest speakers from a wide array of fields.
Students can participate in unpaid internships in a range of fields including advertising, event planning, fashion, film, marketing, mass-media, sports, music, hospitality, tourism, public relations, non-profit, radio, talent agencies, television, theater and more.
