Business Internships Summer Discovery is proud to collaborate with University of Dreams, the leading provider of Internships for college students, to offer an incredible array of unpaid Internships for Summer Discovery high school students in the Los Angeles area. University of Dreams has placed over 2000 students with over 700 businesses over the past eight years. You will work from 9:00am - 5:00pm, four days per week, Mon. through Thurs. for 5+ weeks. After a brief Business Training Camp, where you learn business dynamics, business etiquette, and organizational expectations of a professional work environment - you will be ready to venture into the field. For those Internships not easily reachable by walking or public transportation, Summer Discovery will provide transport to/from your Internship.
Internship = 1 college credit In addition to your work experience, you will attend an evening Summer Intern Seminar approximately once per week featuring respected business people from a variety of fields. Students also earn 1 college credit from Menlo College for successfully attending all Internship days/hours, seminars, and completing two short papers of one and three-pages in length. Students must be 16 years old by June 23, 2010 to participate in the Internship program.
Internship Requests/Assignments Upon acceptance and enrollment in Summer Discovery, Internship participants complete a questionnaire and request, in order, 3 fields from the list below, in which they would be interested in obtaining an Internship. After careful review by Summer Discovery and University of Dreams placement specialists, you will be assigned an Internship in one of your 3 areas of interest, guaranteed. Internship assignments are provided to students after commencement of the Business Training Camp, not before. Students/parents agree to accept the internship assigned. Internships are available in the following fields:
• Advertising • Marketing • Talent Agencies • Event Planning • Music • Television • Fashion • Non-Profit • Theatre/Arts • Film • Public Relations • Hospitality & Tourism • Radio Broadcasting

Special Note: Students in this program have the opportunity to fully participate in most Summer Discovery weekend trips, excursions, evening activities, recreation, and residential life, with the exception of optional afternoon activities and the Sports Plus program.
