The UCLA 3 Week Session 1 is comprised of students attending the following three programs; 3 week Summer Discovery @ UCLA, DiscoveryWorks @ UCLA community service, and College Discovery @ UCLA admissions prep and college visits. While the choices of curricula are different, all students will participate in the same after class afternoon, evening and weekend activities (most of which will be with the students attending the 6 week Summer Discovery program) unless attending a mandatory co-curricula excursion off campus.
UCLA, established in 1919, is situated at the foot of the Santa Monica Mountains and nestled between the residential communities of Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Westwood, and Santa Monica – just minutes from spectacular Pacific Ocean beaches. Students study on a beautiful 411-acre campus of which 60 percent is open land devoted to lush, green fields, tropical trees, flowers and plants. UCLA offers excellent facilities: a six million-volume library, numerous cultural centers and museums, one of the nation’s finest health care complexes, and some of the world’s finest athletic facilities – many built for the Olympic Games. The largest of the nine University of California campuses, UCLA is internationally recognized for its innovative curricula, commitment to community service and excellence in undergraduate teaching. The UCLA faculty has included three Nobel Prize winners and over 300 Fulbright scholars.

Prior to the program you and your family will complete this important questionnaire. The information you provide in the profile, along with your school transcript, help us to customize the College Discovery program specifically for you.
Through the Princeton Review College Discovery Experience you’ll have the unique opportunity to live in a real collegiate community. You’ll live cooperatively with a roommate (most rooms are doubles and triples), learn how to use a university library, do your own laundry, and manage your time. Best of all, you’ll make new friends from all over the USA and around the world.
Each session features the same highly qualified staff of educators, admissions advisors and adult resident counselors. To help ensure a successful College Discovery experience, our counselors are positive role models who are teachers and graduates or upperclassmen from the nation’s top universities. All staff is over 21 years of age and is on duty 24 hours a day. Staff to student ratio is approximately 1:9.
Student safety, security and health are our primary concerns. The programs’ campuses have been chosen for their excellent locations, excellent campus security and traditional collegiate atmosphere. All students and College Discovery resident counselor staff live in the same university hall. The residence hall is always locked and university personnel staff the front desk 24 hours a day. College Discovery staff accompany students to all college visits, excursions, and medical facilities.
