Campus Life

Why Northeastern?

Located in the heart of Boston’s cultural district, between Symphony Hall and the Museum of Fine Arts and close to Fenway Park, Northeastern University’s impressive 67-acres campus features 41 academic and 27 residence hall buildings. Northeastern was founded in 1898, and is a private research university offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including its renowned co-op program which combines classroom learning with
real-world experience. Over 300,000 students attend college in Boston and approximately 20,000 of them attend Northeastern. Recently, Northeastern committed $500 million to build a new research center, a health sciences center, seven new dormitories and the world-class state-of-the-art Marino Center recreation and athletic facility which can be used by College Discovery students. The Boston Globe recently wrote, “a higher grade upscale turnaround puts Northeastern on students ‘A’ lists. Northeastern is a hot school.”

The Personal Profile:

Keeping Your Parents and High School in the Loop
Prior to the program you and your family will complete this important questionnaire. The information you provide in the profile, along with your school transcript, help us to customize the College Discovery program specifically for you.

Experience Campus Life While Still in High School

Through the Princeton Review College Discovery Experience you’ll have the unique opportunity to live in a real collegiate community. You’ll live cooperatively with a roommate (most rooms are doubles and triples), learn how to use a university library, do your own laundry, and manage your time. Best of all, you’ll make new friends from all over the USA and around the world.

Caring, Experienced Supervision

Each session features the same highly qualified staff of educators, admissions advisors and adult resident counselors. To help ensure a successful College Discovery experience, our counselors are positive role models who are teachers and graduates or upperclassmen from the nation’s top universities. All staff is over 21 years of age and is on duty 24 hours a day. Staff to student ratio is approximately 1:9.

Safety, Security and Health

Student safety, security and health are our primary concerns. The programs’ campuses have been chosen for their excellent locations, excellent campus security and traditional collegiate atmosphere. All students and College Discovery resident counselor staff live in the same university hall. The residence hall is always locked and university personnel staff the front desk 24 hours a day. College Discovery staff accompany students to all college visits, excursions, and medical facilities.
