Tuition includes: Term fees, full academic and enrichment program, breakfast and lunch or dinner daily, flight from Beijing to Shanghai, International SOS supplemental medical/health service, Jiao Tong University recreation privileges, activities, trips and excursions per catalog, blanket and pillow, and linens with weekly exchange.

Not included: Airfare to/from China, airport transfers (available for $60 each way), China visa (info sent upon enrollment), books and classroom materials, course supplements, $395 fee per course for optional college credit courses, one meal daily, medical expenses, laundry, souvenirs, and personal spending money (approximately $100-$150 per week suggested).

Internships

  • TopBusiness Internships
    • Shanghai Business Internships: Internships with Summer Discovery are obtained in Shanghai through Brantley Turner Bradley, founder of China Prep, and provide unique opportunities to develop professional skills in an international context. Get a leg up on fellow students and future coworkers by trying your hand at a specific area of professional interest and expand your knowledge of China. We offer hands-on work experiences complemented by professional seminars throughout the program.     • Internship Requirements: The internship program is available to students who have completed the 10th-12th grades. Applicants must exhibit sound academic performance (minimum GPA of 3.0), excellent interpersonal skills and maturity, and a genuine interest in their intended area of internship. It is strongly recommended that candidates have visited China before and have studied/are studying Mandarin. Program enrollment will be capped at 10 participants.
    • Internship Schedule: Each workday morning, participants will meet as a group to discuss current business issues and review strategies for adding the most to the workplace and learning how to be a great intern. After the group meeting, students will travel to their individual internships, usually working 9:30 – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
    • Application Process: In addition to completing the Summer Discovery Online Application, students applying for an internship in China need to submit a copy of their resume and a list of their top 2-3 internship sector preferences to lexi@summerdiscovery.com. Applicants for the Internship track will also need to complete a phone interview that will be set up after all parts of the application have been received.
